YES - the audio is a much bigger improvement than the fx or pacing (which seems little changed, frankly). The original audio fx were awful. Good job, Mr. Wise or whoever.
Yes, that is why they were used in TWOK, TSFS, and TFF.

Not the computer voice.
In ST III? The voice talking to Scotty?it was used in the excelsior turbolift
Yup. It was used in the simulator in TWOK, it was used in the excelsior turbolift, it was used on the bridge in TFF (RRRRRRREeeeeed Aaaallllleeeeeerrrrt. Re RE RE RE REd Alert. Scotty: I just fixed that damn thing, turn it off would ya)

That was Leonard Nimoy, using the same actor name used to play "Nacluv" ("Vulcan", spelled backwards) in all the adult Spock scenes in the ST III call sheets: Frank Force.
(Spock being the frankest force in the universe.)
They used the same "digitalization" effect on it.

But did the voice talk over Scotty repeatedly?

Did anyone else notice that "Cleary" (presumably another engineer both Scotty and Uhura talked to) had the same voice?

Except that Cleary was played by Michael Rougas and the original TMP computer voice (pre DE) was supplied by Doug Hale.
As in dubbed by another actor, or looped his own lines? There are lines where Khan is very clearly and obviously looped in post: "To amuse your captain, no?" being the worst offender.Did anyone else notice that "Cleary" (presumably another engineer both Scotty and Uhura talked to) had the same voice?

And he was also pretty clearly dubbed.

if you're talking about the abortion that is the SLV, you shouldn't. That thing's an editorial disaster cobbled together to fill out a 3 hour time slot (with commercials).I think he was dubbed by Doug Hale. Much the same way that Stephen Collins can be seen speaking with a woman's voice later in the Extended Edition.
I don't see how you can draw the conclusion that he's possibly dubbed by another actor unless you know what the actor actually sounds like.Okay, I've just popped the DE DVD in and rewatched the Engineering scenes a few times. Cleary's voice is very obviously looped at least and possibly dubbed by another actor...
In at least one draft of the script the line is slightly different, but close:...As for the Khan looping mentioned : "To amuse your captain, no?" Right after Khan finishes his next line, Terrell says "I never even met Admiral Kirk." I wonder if Khan's "aumse" line was originally something else since Terrell's line seems out of place. It didn't matter if he had met Kirk or not, it was supposed to be about Chekov telling Terrell about finding Khan.
