What did Mirror-Kirk say?

The "violins" line is a stock part of any number of old vaudeville gags -- it's sort of a sarcastic "Oh, yeah?" or "So?"

"Violins" it is, then. Bah.

"What's all this fuss I hear about there being too much sax and violins on TV?" -Emily Litella

What? You want oboes?

There. I said it. OBOES would have made "The Apple" a lot better. Any wind instrument that looks awkward, really.

I suddenly feel very old.
No wonder Ben Grimm now says "dude."
Something wonderful has died.

While the article neglects the other cultures that made the lower east side America's original melting pot, you get the idea. Stan Lee (nee Lieber) came from those streets. It's no wonder people just don't quite understand the characters he wrote anymore.

So it's "violins" and not "violence". Aw how sad, what a shame. I think I'll go play some really sad violin music with lots of vibrato.

Disclaimer: I'm not trying to zing anybody here, just making a poor joke.

If that was really "violins," maybe the Vaalian's hair was really big Q-Tips.

Spammy? I give Devorah a pass. I'd love to see the exhibit. I wish I was in New York.

Devorah, you should send a PM to TBonz and get this in Trek Today. You should also make a post in the Trek Art forum.

Wonderful and creative work, BTW. :bolian:

Isn't this ironic. I just saw this thread.

I did an article on the art showing about 6 hours ago. I found it myself while hunting for news.

Devorah, next time, email to me directly (TBonz@Trekbbs.com) Your showing was definitely news-worthy and having it as an article means more see it, not just the ones in here.

And a very clever title you used, BTW, TBonz, in your Trek Today article. Neroon must be jealous.

Yes, that was bad, wasn't it? Someone whipped my butt in chat for that title.

Of course not! I'm sadistic like that.

Looks like one of my two news competitors picked up on my story. *chuckle.* I mean the idea, not taking what I did. It's nice to be first for once. ;) I assume the other competitor will do so in due time.

So Devorah will get a bit more publicity, for those who live close to that area.

Back to Mirror Kirk!

I always loved his gold velour tunic with the Imperial medals on it. I kind of hoped for a few of the prequel Mirror Universe uniforms on ENTERPRISE to look like that.

Violins or violence aside, I find the DVD transcripted dialogue problematic. One example in particular comes to mind:

In a DVD I have of The Doomsday Machine the transcripted text has Spock saying something like (I recall the error more clearly than the exact dialog line):

"It [the planet killer] seems to be drawn to our power cells."

While my not-at-all-Vulcan ears clearly hear:

"It seems to be drawn to our power nacelles." [i.e. - the two upper cylindrical projections aft of the main saucer disc.]

Not a big deal I suppose, but how much more difficult would it have been to get it right.
