It's not a comic BOOK, but a comic strip, but I still think if they get someone who knows what he's doing behind it, Modesty Blaise would still make a kick-ass movie or TV series. Angelina Jolie is the same age as Monica Vitti and Ann Turkel were when they made their Modesty Blaise films years ago, so it's a no-brainer who to cast.
There was an excellent Dark Horse series back in the 1990s called Trekker about a female bounty hunter that I'd love to see done as a movie (Ron Randall, the creator of the series, recently began reposting the stories online at trekkercomic.com )
Although I've divorced myself from DC in the wake of the New 52 thing, I'd still like to see proper movies done of some of its heroes. The Legion of Superheroes for certain or, alternately, Teen Titans (the 20-something Titans of the comics, not the kiddies from the cartoon show).
Although it sucked primarily because the writer showed a basic ignorance of the character, last year's failed Wonder Woman pilot showed that it wasn't impossible to put together a live-action post-Lynda Carter production based on the character. The right cast and the right writer might make a WW movie work.
But of course now that Christina Hendricks is free (I think I heard Mad Men is over this year, correct?) the world won't rest until we get to see her in a Power Girl movie! (One of the artists at DC is obviously on the same wavelength as I recall one of the last PG issues saw her drawn in a couple panels looking like Hendricks). Seriously, boobs and cleavage aside, before the New 52 wrecked everything, they were actually doing some great stuff with the Power Girl character and I think if they take that concept they could produce an appealing action-comedy superhero film out of it.
In a similar vein, but with less cleavage, I think a second attempt at Birds of Prey (Oracle era, of course) would also work, again with the right writers and a good cast.
