What comic book would you turn into a movie / franchise?

Seeing as comic book movies are pretty much at their height currently, it's pretty obvious that Hollywood is going to be looking at other comic series around with an eye to turn them into prospective movie franchises to match the work done by Marvel with The Avengers...

So, what comic book would you love to see turn into a full movie or series of movies?

There's plenty out there to choose from...

So, what comic book gems would you guys turn into a movie / franchise if you had Hollywood's reigns?

I think personally, i'd love to see Hollywood tackle either Preacher or The Authority... seeing either of those on the big screen would definitely be a huge deal and remind everyone that comics haven't just been for kids for a long time...

Of course, both of those would have to be handled extremely carefully... with The Authority basically being a 'sex, drugs and rock and roll' version of the Justice League, complete with homosexual versions of Superman and Batman to boot... Likewise with Preacher, the obvious problems of religious intollerance to a movie like Preacher would definitely throw up a few problems for Hollywood, even discounting the racism, bigotry and general hilarity of the plot...

If done right, Grimjack.

There were rumors back in the 90's, I think. Nothing ever came of it.

The John Gaunt version would likely be the best for movies.

Maybe some back story in the beginning of the (first) movie (ala Conan).

Grimjack would be pretty awesome as a movie... surprised that hasn't been bought up yet actually...

Moonknight. Only problem is no one would come and see it and it'd get pulled from Cinemas after twelve showings.

He might not be as gritty or violent as some indie comic heroes, and some people may unfairly dismiss him as a bootleg-Batman but i really like the character.
There's just something appealing about a superhero who is batcrap crazy, knows it and uses it to his advantage. Plus currently you get four Avengers for the price of one. Well at least you did, until Moonknight was cancelled. Again.

Squirrel Girl. Cute girl who can kick Wolverines ass and has a sqirrel tale, whats not to like.

With Marvel now leaning into their cosmic properties as hinted at in The Avengers credit sequence I say Nova.
Also at Marvel I'd go with Moon Knight as well. While true the media would instantly make the Batman similarities he's a cool character. Maybe his window is coming up with Nolan's saga ending and a likely 4-6yr gap before another Batman film hits the screen.

At DC I'm still pulling for a good Flash film.
Since they are known to go into their catalog for more lesser known characters ala Constantine and Jonah Hex maybe we could get Deadman? Was there not talk of that a little while back?

It's not a comic BOOK, but a comic strip, but I still think if they get someone who knows what he's doing behind it, Modesty Blaise would still make a kick-ass movie or TV series. Angelina Jolie is the same age as Monica Vitti and Ann Turkel were when they made their Modesty Blaise films years ago, so it's a no-brainer who to cast.

There was an excellent Dark Horse series back in the 1990s called Trekker about a female bounty hunter that I'd love to see done as a movie (Ron Randall, the creator of the series, recently began reposting the stories online at trekkercomic.com )

Although I've divorced myself from DC in the wake of the New 52 thing, I'd still like to see proper movies done of some of its heroes. The Legion of Superheroes for certain or, alternately, Teen Titans (the 20-something Titans of the comics, not the kiddies from the cartoon show).

Although it sucked primarily because the writer showed a basic ignorance of the character, last year's failed Wonder Woman pilot showed that it wasn't impossible to put together a live-action post-Lynda Carter production based on the character. The right cast and the right writer might make a WW movie work.

But of course now that Christina Hendricks is free (I think I heard Mad Men is over this year, correct?) the world won't rest until we get to see her in a Power Girl movie! (One of the artists at DC is obviously on the same wavelength as I recall one of the last PG issues saw her drawn in a couple panels looking like Hendricks). Seriously, boobs and cleavage aside, before the New 52 wrecked everything, they were actually doing some great stuff with the Power Girl character and I think if they take that concept they could produce an appealing action-comedy superhero film out of it.

In a similar vein, but with less cleavage, I think a second attempt at Birds of Prey (Oracle era, of course) would also work, again with the right writers and a good cast.

Matthew Weiner's new deal with AMC includes a sixth season, with a very good possibility that a seventh (and final) would follow.

I would love a Dr Strange tv series, like house and supernatural wraped up in one awesome show!!!

Iron fist would make a cool movie series, as would the guardians of the galaxy!

but i would love a namor movie but it would never happen!

Hey, if Ghost Rider and Blade can get multiple movies, why not Sub-Mariner?

(I believe Chris Columbus had a Namor movie in development movie at one point, but I don't think anything came of it . . . .)

I would do Fantastic Four and Green Lantern properly.

I would create a horror/sci-fi franchise based on Ego, The Living Planet.

I would do a Wonder Woman movie based on George Perez's run on the series, complete with no costume redesign. (That's right! Yer gettin' the star-spangled undies and hooker boots! Deal with it.)

The Micronauts. (Somebody needs to pull this off.)

Wasn't The Rock rumoured to play him?

And speaking of The Rock, he was supposed to play Black Adam in a Captain Marvel movie. That'd be another hero I'd like to see given the big screen treatment.

If Marvel owns the rights so Sub-Mariner he'd be the favourite. If he's part of the Fantastic Four package then it's anyone's guess

Given that Namor was invented some thirty years before the Fantastic Four, I would hope he wouldn't be regarded strictly as an FF character. Sure, Marvel reintroduced him in the early issues of FF, but it's not like he was created to be an FF antagonist.

(Plus, I note that Marvel is talking about an Inhumans movie, and they were invented in the pages of Fantastic Four. Ditto the Black Panther.)
