What Changes Would You Like To See For "Spock’s Brain"?

Startrek.com as of this time has still to release the preview, however they did release a new picture of the Ion Ship:

Now THIS looks a lot better. Not great or earth-shattering, mind you...but since this was one of THE worst episodes in the entire STAR TREK franchise the new Eyemorg ship doesn't need to be the next George Lucas warship with a million bells and whistles.

I like this new ship because it looks "alien". Too many Trek ships are just variations on the same theme.

I think people are too hard on this episode. It is what it is. It's fun, not embarrassing (**cough andthechildrenshalllead cough*) to watch.

Having just seen the new Remastered version of this episode about two hours ago, I can tell you that from the front the new ion ship still bears a superficial resemblance to the old 1968 shooting prop. It wasn't totally changed from the top down. Just updated with new views of the sides and back thrusters/engines that were never shown in the original version.

I'm disappointed! All these years, Kirk has said that Spock is tied into the system via "beams of light" - but they're still crappy acrylic tubes! This couldn't have been that hard to fix, right?

Ahhhh, still a classic, though!

This was the first time I've seen this famous episode, and I must say:
"Spock's Brain" = Pure win!
Wow.

Also, I so have a new costume idea for DragonCon now. I could be a 'snazzy idiot woman-child'! With purple lame' thigh boots! Brilliant!

Beams of light can travel thru acrylic tubes, ya know. :)

Yeah, I always figured it was big-ass fiber optics. ;)

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Spock's Br

Watching this episode again this weekend, I just thought "Man, this episode is FUN". There's a lot to like, particularly in the first act, with never-before-or-after seen special effects and the second-tier characters getting their two cents in. I don't think, as some do, that this was a "serious" episode that came apart. I don't think it was meant to be taken seriously (in the final filmed version; I know that Coon's original screenplay was pretty somber). Spock's scene at the end where he won't shut up is pretty funny.

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Spock's Br

It's been awhile since I've seen it.

So there were other habitable planets, the culture had ion drive starships, but their solution to the ice age was to build a place for the women to become child-minded go-go dancers and tease the cavemen on the surface?

Text book case of cultural regression, Spock? This is a text book case of some fucking whack-ass shit!

Now the powerless women are at the mercy of brutish savages. Great ending!

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Spock's Br

The episode is still super-cheesy and pretty bad...even with the new effects. :D

Re: What Changes Would You Like To See For "Spock's Br

The new Ion ship looks like a boob from the front....which actually works when you think about it.
