What Changes Would You Like To See For "Charlie X"?

Change Charlie X to Malcom X, so that the episode becomes a commentary on racial integration.

Zoom-in rear shot of Charlie slapping Rand on the ass. All new footage.

Instead of the Antares, show a....you know...Klingon Bird of Prey, because they are so kewl

Once Charlie got over Yeoman Rand, he became HOT for Hillary.

(Sorry, couldn't resist) :p

Hold off on these. I'll make this one of the pics for the upcoming caption contest on Saturday.

Joe, eyeless

Let's put the sfx department's skills to the test, how about a see-thru nightie instead of that pink one on Janice at the end?

To be serious for a moment, McCoy's line to Kirk about Charlie HAVING to be an Earth human because of "the development of his fingers and toes" always strikes me as severely, embarrassingly outdated in the year 2007. To be sure, DNA and genetic studies/profiling weren't exactly in vogue and second nature when this episode was first written and filmed but since it's set in the year 2266 and not 1966 shouldn't his line either be trimmed out of the Remastered edit to save a few seconds for other dialogue or footage, OR a De Kelley soundalike line referring to DNA instead of "fingers" and "toes" be overdubbed?

Not much changed in the final aired version(saw it just a couple of hours ago), but the new shots of the Antares and Enterprise look very, very good. And some of the jerkier, less impressive whitewash/vanishing effects got stabilized and cleaned up a little.

BTW...what happened in THIS edit to the Kirk ass-slap that inspired Charlie's? I missed it! :(

Oh, ye GODS! I've just watched further...what a BUTCHER JOB on this one. Sometimes the time-edits are relatively negligible but this episode is pretty damn skeletal in some places. :(

I glimpsed in on the end of the show tonight.

I like the fact that they cleaned up the editing on the interplay between the crew and Charlie after the Thasian summoned Charlie "home". The dialogue seemed to flow a little better.

The Thasian "ship" reminded me of the trans-dimensional beings from TNG ("Justice") or maybe ENT's Sphere Builders. Interesting touch.

The thing that always got me about this episode was that Kirk starts out referring to the Antares as a "cargo ship", but by the end of the ep, Kirk refers to the Antares as a "science probe vessel". Some other little touches made the show seem rough around the edges. They didn't ruin it, but they were minor distractions.

I thought the Thasian ship looked pretty cool. As did the Antares.

Talk about minor distractions, though: The Thasians gave Charlie all that power, why couldn't they just take it away?

Looks like they managed to get rid of that reflection of Charlie in the medical viewer as well.

I'm assuming you're being facetious...because no, they didn't. :D You can still see Robert Walker, Jr.'s head reflected in the sickbay readout monitor when he's supposed to be lying flat on the bed doing the leg exercises.
