What Changes Would You Have For "The Return of the Archons"?

I'm sure they were wondering over there at CBS Digital whether or not to add beams to those pain sticks.

I like the pain sticks how they are. This episode gave me the willies when I was really young!

As did I. I thought the use of hollow pipes was an excellent story choice (and a good budget move as well).

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "The Return of the Archo

Leave the sticks alone. I do not think there is much to alter. What space scenes are there?

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "The Return of the Archo

Blood flying when that bloke gets clobbered on the head with a rock.

Other than that, the pain sticks are just fine as they are, it would take away from Spock's observation that they were just plain old sticks.

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "The Return of the Archo

Maybe some scenes of Landru's tractor beam shaking the Enterprise around. A better effect when Kirk and Spock phaser the wall and then the computer.

Oh, and CGI Ben Stiller into the crowd scenes (his production company is named "Red Hour Films", presumably after this episode).

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "The Return of the Archo

They need to make the Landru computer look at least a LITTLE better and more advanced. CGI a couple of modern-looking, alien readout screens onto it or something. And make those "absorption rods" the Lawgivers carry emit a ray or beam or something tangible.

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "The Return of the Archo

No call for CGI nudity in Red Hour? You're slipping cooleddie?

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "The Return of the Archo

maybe the computer could looked more advanced?
Wouldn't a tractor beam scene cut something else out of the show?

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "The Return of the Archo

Could they make it not suck?

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "The Return of the Archo

Shhhhh. The Lawgivers will hear you!

I'm afraid not. The episode would have to suck to begin with.

Each his own, I guess, but I never found anything particularly interesting about this episode.

When the rock hits Ensign Ricky on the melon I wanna hear a "BONK" noise this time. :D

btw, this is one of my top Trek favs. This ep is classic Trek, a tight story and spooky build up. A classic ending, Kirk defeats the machine God/Commie or whatever. I await a dumb retcon connecting the Borg to Landru.

Maybe so, bit I'm of the opinion that they're more menacing without any visible beam or effect.

I don't see a lot changing in this one, really.

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "The Return of the Archo

Yea, the tubes are ment to have a goofy flash effect. They are just for show. They don't do anything. I'm amazed some even suggest some beam shooting out, sheesh.

Yeah, on a philosophical level it's quintessential Trek. And it's also got effective, goofy fun too. :) I mean, really, Star Trek 101 about identity and culture, plus some really weird crap, and Kirk blows up a computer through use of reason - again. What's not to love?

Re: What Changes Would You Have For "The Return of the Archo

Not my favorite, but most of the elements of a TOS episode.

Good catch. SHAME on me.

You're right. I am slipping.

I want the clock on the town's main hall to have a Budweiser bikini chick on it, too.
