What Changes Would You Have For "Elaan of Troyius"?

AC84

Captain
Captain
The Dohlman of Elas is up next on the chopping block, ready to be served by the fine folks at CBS Digital. What would you have considered for alteration, if anything.

I can't think of a single thing I would change for this wonderful classic episode. Truth be told, I just hope we finally see some close up beauty shots of the Klingon D7 Battlecruiser. We better. This episode and "The Enterprise Incident" were the only episodes where we saw the Klingon ship up close. And "The Enterprise Incident" had to focus on three ships. This episode was just one ship all to itself. I want to see the scenes of the Klingon ship recreated shot for shot just like the shuttlecraft launch sequence in the remastered Galileo Seven episode.

I agree on the D7 cruiser. Closer shots and more dynamic visuals of the brief fight it wages with the Enterprise. More surface detail on the ship along with some glowing nacelles.

Hmm, Oh, I know! "Photoshop" the Dohlman's initial outfit to pay closer homage to her inspiration, Dejah Thoris of Barsoom. (In other words, "buck nekkid"!)

Yes, I admit it; I'm a horndog!

Sincerely,

Bill

This may sound like a minor nitpick, but if the story involves the Enterprise crossing within a star system, then we should see a star closeby, and some planets, with the Enterprise deliberately creeping along at sublight. I think this would be a great chance to show the Enterprise "taking a tour" of a stellar system not unlike the Solar System.

I'd also like to see a better job of showing the Enterprise trying to dodge the Klingon disruptor blasts.

Forget naked. Get rid of the bitch altogether. She's an embarrassment to women.

Sincerely,

Bonz

Sorry, T'Bonz. I was just being silly. I hope I didn't offend you.

Sincerely,

Bill

Agreed on the planets in the system. And when the Enterprise is poking along at sublight speeds, show her poking around the solar system at a snail's pace with planets in the background.

Not a bit. I was teasing you.

I should be more careful. I get in more trouble online through being misunderstood. It ain't easy being green. :vulcan: :rommie:

Sincerely,

Bonz the goof

Well, except that in our own solar system you wouldn't ever see more than one planet in shot, ever...they're just too far apart. The Earth is a speck at 12 million miles.

I thought you might, but gender representation issues can be a potential powder-keg with some people. I thought I'd better err on the side of caution and ask forgiveness. (Poor moderator Ptrope in the Trek Art section got his innocent poll thread turned into a battleground. I won't go into the details.) The last thing I want to do is to irritate any of the moderators. Stay on their good sides and one's "in like Flynn".:techman:

Sincerely,

Bill

more active space action shots ..enterprise turning her strong shields torwards the Klingon ship would be nice..maybe some primitive interplanetary warships near the Big E while she's in orbit at the beginning of the episode..

as far as the Dohlman is concerned.. Don't change a thing..

Well let's see here. We have a female character with a bad disposition, terrible table manners, swigs liquor, and stabs anybody who annoys her.

Sounds like a perfect role for T'Bonz. I say they should replace France Nuyen with T'Bonz.

You beat me to it on the first one-definitely a good addition if they would do it.

LOL. What do you WANT from me? Flattery will get you nowhere. :rommie:

Bonz never looked as good as Frances, even in Bonz's heyday. And your description is inaccurate. I have a good disposition unless one angers me, and I have impeccable table manners.

I'll take the fifth (so to say) on the booze and stabbing though. ;)

Upon entering a solar system the star is barely any more visible than any other star, and there's no reason to think you're anywhere near any planets.
Solar systems are big and empty.

Modern ships at sea battle each other while MILES apart. Space is exponentially bigger.
I'm sick of modern trek showing ships right on top of each other.

TVs aren't that big.

Read the second half of his post again. We're talking about port traffic here, not battle scenes.

And let's face facts...

how many of us would never stop bitching and whining about space battles that happen MILLIONS of miles apart? There's not much pizzazz or action in a battle that takes almost an entire episode because the combatants are a parsec away from one another and don't get any closer.

Thousands of miles. And TOS did it just fine. More tension in one of its battle scenes - which NEVER showed battling ships in the same frame - than in a dozen starships zipping around like racecars.
