Was it the original plan to have T'Pring pick Stonn as her champian?
Yes it was. As transcribed at Chakoteya.net:
Amok Time said:
T'PRING: As it was in the dawn of our days, as it is today, as it will be for all tomorrows, I make my choice. This one.
(She steps past the expectant Stonn and points at Kirk.)
STONN: No! I am to be the one. It was agreed.
T'PAU: Be silent.
STONN: Hear me. I have made the ancient claim. I claim the right. The woman is
T'PAU: Kroykah!

Why oh why must Data & Geordi test-fire phasers next to the warp core?

Sometimes they'll have to take such risks by using rooms for more than one function. It's a ship with extremely limited space, after all - it's not as if they could fit a separate testing room in there. Not after you allow for all those bars, arboretums, holodecks, gyms, concert or theater rooms, and ambassador-level living quarters that even lowly crewmen enjoy.

Actually this video might shock you about the size of the Enterprise D

The picture in the thumbnail is everyone onboard in that small space. That's how huge the ship is.

Did Sisko ever return, and if so, when?

What did T’Pol’s, Trip’s, Reed’s, Phlox’s, Mawyeather’s, Shran’s, Soval’s, Hernandez’s, Forrest’s & Gardner’s respective bios say about them on the USS Defiant’s historical database? We only saw Archer’s and Sato’s.

What ever became of Neelix?

Does the mirror universe have their own Crystalline Entity or planet killer or Adonis or Flint or Q? What about events like the whale probe, Nexus and the Romulan supernova?

Who designs the Starfleet uniforms in universe? And when do they decide to rotate uniform in and out of service?

Assimilated, most likely. After all, that Talaxian colony can't have been too far from the Borg Transwarp Hub they found just two weeks later. I would expect a number of Borg cubes to come that location to find out what happened to that hub, witness the level of destruction, then assimilate a few worlds/colonies in the vicinity to have more drones to speed up the reconstruction of the hub,

But would a displaced colony have tech worthy of assimilation? I didn't see the Telaxians as much more advanced than the Kazon in the first place.

I don't think they'd need more tech, simply more drones (to do the actual work). And it's probably far more efficient to start assimilating in the neighborhood, than to get a message back to the far reaches of the DQ, and wait for another 1.5 years before more cubes arrive, without that transwarp hub. I'm not sure the Borg assimilate only when they think they can gain new tech (though that is a definite reason). After all, they had nothing to gain, tech-wise, from assimilating 2063 earth either. Yet they tried to do so in FC.

The Borg have also assimilated Talaxians before, according to 7 of 9.

You can't top Discovery building a mini-version of the DMA in engineering when they had those enourmous turbolift caverns to do it in:lol:

Seven says: Why assimilate a species that would detract from perfection?

What I don't get is why these undesirable properties couldn't be filtered out. I mean it's not as if all species they have assimated wouldn't have had any less desirable characteristics (e.g. being too aggressive, weak build, etc). I would expect, even if there were no gain in distinctive features, there to be no damage to the Collective either. And they'd still have some extra drones.
