What are your turn-ons/turn-offs?

^ Oh, I did. I most certainly did. Quite awhile ago.

As to general turn-ons for physical qualities, I've never been able to really say that THIS or THAT is what I'm looking for; it's fairly intangible. For instance, my own husband had a beard and very dingy teeth when I first met him--things I never had found attractive on any man. Yes, he did eventually get his teeth whitened but he kept the beard. Generally, I've never liked beards but after 11 years, I think he looks better with the beard than without. Besides, I'm ugly as HELL and I know it. I've never NOT known it. It makes me a bit more sensitive to pointing out physical turn-offs. There are several actors who I just ADORE and they are by no means what other people would think of as attractive, and several stars that most people think of as gorgeous but I find them really unappealing. It has to do with something more than the physical, for me.

For instance, I find Jensen Ackles really, really appealing but not Jared Padalecki, which is odd, because they are both extremely attractive men and both main actors on a show I love. But I just don't get turned on by Jared. Even when I was a kid, back in junior high, when all my geeky friends were watching "V", the mini-series. My friends were swooning over Marc Singer's character, Mike, and I totally didn't get it. I was in love with Ham Tyler, Michael Ironside's character. All the other girls thought I was completely nuts.

I felt the same until Sam went crazy in -- was it season 6? I even texted my sister when I got to those episodes: "Wow, Crazy Sam is hot!"

Ohhhh, myyy!

EDIT:

auntiehill, to me the term ugliness only applies to one's attitude. Maybe I'm just saying that cuz I'm average, but it doesn't matter.

BTW, I have a male co-worker who, I swear, sounds like a younger Jensen Ackles, with a slightly higher pitch. :)

I'm hoping that baldness isn't considered a turnoff. :alienblush:

(srsly, I didn't go bald so I could get girls. I did it because I hate the way I look with hair. Most people would say they like those who are confident in their appearance? Well, that's the reason. ;) )

As for what turns ME off or on: I hate to say this, but...I really have no idea. Apart from the obvious things like personal appearance and hygiene (the lack of which WOULD turn me off), there aren't a lot of deal-breakers with me. For instance, my religion is very important to me, but I would not consider it a turnoff if I met someone who was not a believer. (I wouldn't yell at her about it or anything like that, either. If my faith doesn't turn her off, her lack of one wouldn't do it to me.) I find it so hard to meet people that I guess I can't afford to have a very long list!

@ Mr. Laser Beam Don't worry about it, own it! Love how you look. :) My hair has always been long but I shaved my head one summer to be more comfortable and a female friend after making a joke then said it looked good on me and I wear that look well. :)

A turnoff? Only for Q, but forget this pompous dude.

I have a buddy, he is also bald. I told me that he had once big blond off-standing curls. He hated them....

Actually I do have one thing I definitely find attractive in a woman. I am attracted to women who are (honestly, I am trying to say this as non-offensively as I possibly can, so please bear with me here) 'of size.' Larger women are definitely attractive for me.

Whether or not they're attracted BY me, is another matter entirely...

srsly, I hope I didn't sound crude or offensive when I said this. It is true, though.

turn-offs:

beards

Heartbreaker. :sigh: ;)

(My beard - goatee, actually - is another thing I worked hard on. I don't like the way I look when I'm clean shaven, either. I'm rocking the 'Ming the Merciless' look, to be honest.  )

Sorry, that wasn't precise what I said. I meant beards like the one Miraculix sports..... Where you have difficulties to find the man under the beard. An indefinable growth.... With living things in it, even Ferengi don't eat......

Another buddy of mine prefers skinny, almost anorectic women. I fail to see how that is attractive. He even lifts them up to find out their weight (unnecessary to say that he does so without asking)

On +:Articulate, honest, well mannered, creative, good hygiene, a wide range of interest, loves fresh air, well read, has the ability to keep a conversation going even when it lulls...oh and well kept beards are sexy.

Off -: Dependent, self-righteous, self-entitled, sedentary, ignorant, irresponsible, whining &blaming every one else but themselves for their problems...pants worn to where their butt is showing, lousy vocabulary.

^I wish there were more people like you in the world.

MLB: Baldness can be very attractive, especially if you have a nicely shaped head. I think it really has more to do with how a man carries himself--think Patrick Stewart, Sean Connery or a younger Yule Brenner. Bald or not, they are/were both sexy as hell.

YES!!! don't forget Avery Brooks, Sisko got sexier after he went bald. ;)

Personality & habits will always come before "looks" for me. I have never been hooked on looks. I think anyone can be beautiful if they truly feel that way on the inside. :bolian:

If you've never seen Leonard Nimoy's photography, check it out. He did a whole series of photos of large women.

Your buddy has some serious issues. Lift the wrong woman w/o asking, and he's going to be in jail.
