Then, maybe it needs to wait for a bit and come back at a more appropriate time, if at all.
Unfortunately (or fortunately for some) the Kelvin universe (with ST4) is in as much jeopardy as the Prime universe is with DSC.
Then it is in no jeopardy. Discovery will be made and aired.
Yeah, that guy who worked on Fringe? What does he know about good TV?I wouldn't trust Akiva "Batman & Robin" Goldsman with the Deuce Bigalow "franchise", let alone Star Trek.

Um, no. He also wrote on that show as well, as well as several other successful series and films. Quick writing list from IMDB:Oh, I have no problems with Akiva Goldsman if his involvement in Discovery is exactly like his involvement in Fringe, and that of course is infinitesimal. Goldsman was a "consulting producer" in Fringe, one of the forty or so producers credited to that show!
Quick writing list from IMDB:
The Client, A Beautiful Mind, I, Robot, Cinderella Man, 12 episodes of "Fringe, among others.
He's been on Hollywood for years, which means he knows the system.
But, let's keeping holding that "Batman and Robin" writing credit against him, even though it was almost 20 years ago and the director came out and took most of the blame for the film's failures.
One, I liked Batman Forever, and some of his other films, Cinderella Man and I, Robot especially, are among my personal favorites. So, yeah, it's a mixed bag, but I expect that in the 20+ years the man has worked in Hollywood, he has learned a few things, and has Kurtzman there to provide some guidance as well. It's not like he is the sole voice of the franchise now.The "others" of course include the likes of:
Batman Forever
Batman & Robin
Lost In Space
Deep Blue Sea
Poseidon
Jonah Hex
Paranormal Activity 2
Paranormal Activity 3
Paranormal Activity 4
The 5th Wave
Transformers 6/7/8
IMO that's not really a good thing. But it certainly helped his own career. Another person wouldn't find work again so easily after Batman & Robin and Lost In Space.
The director is always the person accountable and deservedly so, but it was Akiva Goldsman who single-handily wrote the "script":
I could be 100% wrong of course and Akiva Goldsman turns out to write some of the finest Trek TV ever. But so far his resume doesn't give me the same confidence it obviously gives you.

Secondly, why not be optimistic? I'm cautiously so, but I don't expect it to be a bomb. I think, like anything else, it will need time to grow. If it fails, then that's ok too. That's how you learn.
So was Starship Troopers to Heinlein.I've read the initial Batman Forever script by Lee Batchler and Janet Scott Batchler and it actually was a very good Batman script! Of course, after Akiva Goldsman's rewrite we got the likes of these:
Alfred: Can I persuade you to take a sandwich with you, sir?
Batman: I'll get drive-thru.
I will admit that I, Robot is a guilty pleasure of mine, but let's be completely honest here, it is also an insult to the work of Isaac Asimov.
You might need an ice bath to recover.I for one am neither optimistic or pessimistic about the involvement of Akiva Goldsman, but rather stone-cold indifferent. (Oh no, all those bad Mr. Freeze puns had their effect).

Serious question:
"Serious question"! LOL! That's a good one Sister!
That book-to-film adaptations are not always accurate to their original material. It isn't a strike against the writer so much as the Hollywood process with adaptations. No arguments there. Your point is?
