What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

I don't even know what this "Scouts" is.
It's a puerile and formulaic kiddie show where most of the episodes involve kids in SF uniforms using various devices to knock different kinds of asteroids out of the sky that are coming right for them. One of the asteroids (not kidding) was a big snot ball. Another was a popcorn kernel, and so on. It makes shows like Bubble Guppies and Paw Patrol look Shakespearean by comparison.

MA has a page about it and TrekMovie.com has excerpts from every episode. There are (of course) always some folks out there trying to shoehorn it into Teh Canonz™ but ... y'know ...

i just watched three episodes. i am insulted. the part of me that would have loved to see something star trek on nick jr back when i was the correct age for nick jr. is insulted.

based on the name, i would have assumed Scouts was about young children learning skills like idk orienteering or identifying animals or building simple machines or something, with a Trek spin.
the descriptions even try to pretend they are learning engineering skills and putting them to the test. but no. not at all. they just use a goddamned speak-n-spell to pick from absolutely random objects and the first one is wrong, and then the second one isn't and tadah.
formulaic is the wrong word. it's too rigidly the same for that. formulaic still allows for some individuality, some...thingonthewing.

i feel bad for the animators and modelers. you can see they've clearly crafted more there, in brief glimpses. a whole little complex. but the "writers" ... i have never ever seen anything that felt more paint-by-numbers and creatively dead.
just give the kids the polliwog back or something.
jesus christ.

I cant wait for the reboot movie to actually, 100% reboot TOS and fans still tie themselves in knots trying to tie it to what's come before. I remember a thread in 2009 when someone tried to make the AU there fit smoothly into TOS lore

If I can make Orville official Trek then anything is possible. Remember if all else fells you can always pull out a Q card to explain multiple contradictions. .

Where's the MIB (Men In Black) Neuralyzer when you need it.

I only kneel before a dominatrix! And naturally as we all should, the all mighty and perfect Terry Matales!
