What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

TAS still tells sf (or at least sci-fi) stories that are mostly watchable by adults; for the most part, the tone isn’t that different from TOS, other than not having darker endings like “Charlie X” or implied battle casualties like “Balance of Terror”. Scouts, from the admittedly very (very) brief glance I got of it, attempts nothing at all of the kind. There’s little kids, and there’s little kids

People forget how to be kids. And it's sad.

Cause it has bright colors and stars and pre-schoolers like to use their imaginations and havent taught themselves to double check the wiki to see if what they’re imagining is correct.

I guess we just assume that to the extent the world resembles ours aesthetically and/or thematically, its logicality should also increase by the same amount.
That is not the nature of fiction though. Fiction is an agreed upon lie between the author and the audience, willing to participate in the story as presented. If we start questioning the illusion then it becomes more difficult to manage within it.

In my opinion, fandom is best served by things like the Star Trek Concordance or Encyclopedia were it creates fan connections and a wallpapering over inconsistencies to continue the illusion.

When I was kid we had better cartoons. If Trek did something like give them a Trek version of GiJoe or Transformers that would be great.

Speaking of ambitious Gen X cartoons, this is just the opening for the 1980s G.I. Joe movie.
