What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

She's one of the folks that gets liquified in the transporter, according to the novel.
That explains this early script version:

Code:
DECKER: hurrying down the corridor. The two face each other a silent moment, Decker studying Kirk curiously.

KIRK

                    We'll have to replace Commander

Sonak. I'd still like a Vulcan

                    there, if possible...

                                  DECKER

                    None available, Captain. There's

no one in fact, who's fully rated

                    on this design.

                                  KIRK

                    You are, Mister Decker. I'm

afraid you'll have to double as

Science Officer. .. and triple as

                    my spouse.

come to think of it, he was a widow from Paradise Syndrome on. did he have any other long term relationships shown after Miramanee (apart from whenever Carol Marcus and he were together)?

My head canon is Carol Marcus was that blond lab tech that Gary Mitchell hooked Kirk up with. I think David's age works.

MITCHELL: If I hadn't aimed that little blonde lab technician at you
KIRK: You what? You planned that?
MITCHELL: Well, you wanted me to think, didn't you? I outlined her whole campaign for her.
KIRK: I almost married her!

This does not mean Carol was in Starfleet. I hated that in ST09 as Carol clearly doesn't have an affinity for Starfleet. She could be civilian.

Marcus I'm.tje Kelvin universe was clearly more influenced by her father and his hawkish attitude.
must have been rough growing up with people asking "hey.. is your dad John Frederick Paxton?" "No" "are you sure because he really looks like" "NO!"

Come to think of it, it had to come up at some point during Admiral Marcus' illustrious career.

I feel especially bad for Sam because the anger at his dad for not respecting him as much as Jim made him eventually quite Starfleet and get plastic surgery to look just like Jim. But through all the anger and craziness he still could not give up on the mustache. The one thing in life that would never judge him harshly.

So was PIC S3 intending to mirror Kirk's situation, but went with Plan A where his son was kept away from him deliberately as well?

It seemed like a mirror of Kirk & Carol Marcus' exact same scenario, only with a bit more interpersonal baggage attached since we had more development between them in TNG.
The Picard/Crusher relationship was as toxic as shit, middle age people breaking up five times! Give me a break.

Breaking up? I didn't know they were truly "together"?

As far as I can tell, Picard & Beverly were "Sex Friends" on top of being "Friends".

That explains all the extra times they boinked each other on the side.

  • Haha
Reactions: kkt

And Beverly's actions were unconscionable. It's absolutely ridiculous, nevermind the whole "secret relative" trope that's shellacked from here to the center of the Galaxy with Sybok, Michael, Soji, but it's cool with Jack? :wtf:

Those people wound up at a black site, never to be seen again.
