What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

In Space Seed, when Khan puts a knife to McCoy's throat, McCoy tells Khan exactly the best way to do it (like a Boss).
My opinion is that, by telling Khan how to do that, McCoy told Khan exactly how to kill the Scientists (and one Cook) at the Regula 1 station in The Wrath of Khan.

I'm pretty sure Khan needed no tutoring in that area.

After years of CSI most people know the best way to do that.

With a CGI cutaway?

STiD is better than ST09 - Yes I'm serious.

Beyond was better than both of them.

One of my most controversial opinions: TVH is not funny. It's not a bad movie. I find it charming in a hokey kind of way, and that (even though there's this world-destroying threat in the background) it can focus on a relatively low-stakes story for most of its runtime. But I simply don't find "fish out of water" style humor where people do embarrassing things to be funny, just cringe.

I don't 100% agree with this, but I partly do. TWOK, TVH, FC.... People rave about them as the best Star Trek movies. But they are the ones I rewatch the least. All these movies do what generic action movies (or a generic comedy movie in TVH's case) would do.

Like you said, it doesn't mean they're bad movies. But except for phasers and warpdrive and Kirk and Spock, there's nothing 'Star Trek' to me about them.

TVH isn't funny funny but it is a funny movie in many respects. The idea that it's Trek's "comedy film" has no basis in reality but it was designed as a more lighthearted and comedic romp after the dire plots of the two previous films and the cold feel and clinical execution of the first movie.

It's basically the movie version of "The Trouble With Tribbles(TOS)," an episode with lots of humorous moments and even physical gags but which had an underlying subplot that was threatening to cost a lot of lives. In "Tribbles" it was the Klingons poisoning the quadrotriticale. In TVH it's the Whale Probe threatening to destroy Earth's ecosystem.
