What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Controversial Opinion:

Wesley Crusher isn’t nearly as annoying as many make the character out to be. In fact, he’s not even the worst TNG character.

I tend to agree. There are many more annoying characters than Wesley.

I mentioned this on another thread, thought it might count as controversial:

Canon is, always has been, and always will be contradictory. (Vulcan has no moon right? ;)) Sure there are some canon inconsistencies that bother me a little, but I actually think - on the whole - that that's a good thing, because it also allows for more creative freedom.

You must be thinking about his mother.
The character was fine. It was the '80s/'90s male writing staff that failed her. Crusher got more and better things to do when Jeri Taylor came onboard. Then the movies came and all that went out the window again.

That's why I'm hoping she's on Picard. It'll be the first time in a long time she'll be done some justice.

Completely agree.

Potentially controversial opinion:

I want Trek characters that are much much better than me. In every way. I don't want them too relatable. They are meant to be the best of the best of a humanity that has got past all it's bad bits. It's why despite their many flaws I really like the first 2 seasons of TNG.

I'd say "the High Ground" and "Face of the Enemy" rather than "Forget Me Not"

Yeah but other than that. I do consider "Half a Life" and "Dark Page" good too, but they are Lwaxana episodes rather than Troi episodes.
Other than that they sometimes have scenes in episodes that aren't about them (like Beverly's part of Data's Day), but yeah that's just not enough.

Interesting...I can't make it through "The High Ground"....just so dreadfully dull. And I put "Dark Page" in my bottom 5 of the entire series.

Remember me might have a sort of weak finish, but the lead in (watching the ship's company dwindle from 1014 to 1) is freaky. I still get unnerved when watching the part where Picard vanishes. I think that it and "Where Silence has Lease" are the only episodes that affect me that way.

What's wrong with Beverly? The biggest problem with her, in my opinion, is that she was basically never focused on.

I found Beverly to be annoying.
I actually preferred Pulaski. She may have had early indications of Mccoy... but she was also growing out of that trope relatively quickly and was more likeable.

My list of doctors, from best to worst.
McCoy
Phlox
Pulaski
EMH
Beverly
Bashir

Pending: Culber, the cat doctor from Lower Decks.

I do agree that that Pulaski became more likable once they softened her up later in the season, and she was very unique among the cast. But I still didn't like her all that much. I liked Beverly a lot better and just feel that she was criminally underused and underdeveloped.

Beverly was fine. Pulaski annoyed me mostly because she was so dismissive of Data. But, her relationship with Worf had potential.
