What are you working on today?

I thought this might be a neat idea for Fan Art. Show us what you are working on today. Doesn't have to be a finished design or even an ongoing project. What has your attention right now?

I'll start off.

Right now I am just sort of doodling in sketchup. This isn't really what I would consider one of my projects, more like an exercise into different forms to try and come up with some fresh ideas and increase my capabilities in Sketchup.

So, I have a Main Hull with cutouts in the skin showing some of the decks, a secondary hull with twin deflectors, and the nacelle I liked from the other thread. Lastly is an image of my work space just to give an idea of my thought processes/work methods.

Who's next?

That's an ample pair of deflectors, if you'll pardon the engineering parlance.

And a good looking ship as always.

Wow, nice work, the nacelles are great. I like the deck/slice idea too, I could imagine that all over the ship. (although in my case I'd probably ruin it by greebling it all up like a Star Destroyer :)) I think the paired deflector setup gives a very aggressive look...vaguely reminds me of B-52 nacelles.

^Whatever!

I can't take credit for the nacelle design, as it came from this thread. The deck slice idea is definitely a WIP. I don't like how it came out here, but I know if done right it could look cool. You hit the nail on the head with the paired deflectors, though again, not happy with how they look here.

There is a definite Abramsverse look to this ship I think, which is a first for me. It definitely does not fit TNG or TMP at this point.

I think you actually CAN, as this project looks like what you'd get by taking that dude's Enterprise, and projecting 75 years or so into the future.

That ship may spawn a whole new bloodline of starships!

I would still, however, like to see his Enterprise converted into a "serious" design, and have it modeled in 3D. How close could you keep those nacelles to his painting, without actually looking like the side of an actual '63 T-Bird?

Well, I think you changed the nacelles enough to make them work fine.:)
One thing I don't see is the "Abramsverse" look...I think this has a nice "line" and proportion all it's own, for some reason I see a "refined phase II" look...maybe the pylons, and those nacelles...not sure.
Anyway, nice work, looking forward to updates.

started work on a couple of merchant ships from trek the sherman drone with romulan engines is almost done while the dy100 is still a sketch.
also doing a excelsior style ship and a newer version of the grissom using connie parts oh and a 'c' era nebula. no pics yet will try later to get a few up later.

non trek items are a colony town in the judge dredd universe and in the research stage is the manta tank from judge dredd.
almost forgot, got a couple of aliens tech kind of ships on the go including a light sail ship and a orbital habitat.

I have nothing against the double deflectors, but what about a cross between this and the one you have in that other thread.

More like an "8" shape.

Is there a benefit to having two separate dishes? Like having a back-up?

TWO DEFLECTOR DISHES? Must have gotten a lot of complaints about the rain like noise the crew was hearing in the forward section.
