What are you watching???

9-1-1 Nashville.

I just can't buy Chris O'Donnell & Jessica Capshaw as the leads. The rest of the cast is fine, I buy the camaraderie. After years of Grey's Anatomy, Capshaw doesn't play the powerful, confident southern belle. O'Donnell feels like he's cruising on auto pilot. He lacks the empathy and realism that both Peter Krause and Rob Lowe showed in their respective 9-1-1 outings. I don't feel any chemistry between them as a supposed to be married couple.

I'm also confused what the point of having LeAnn Rimes is now, since we've apparently ditched the plan to extort money from Chris O'Donnell after four episodes.

It just feels like a mishmash of catastrophic events so far, jumping from tornado to a city wide hacker attack. For the first seven episodes, the characters aren't being allowed to build anything besides running and shouting. It's break neck pace, even for a 9-1-1 series.

I just finished my rewatch of Ted Lasso. I think that I loved watching the show a second time even more than I did the first time around. I could really appreciate how much that they set up from the very beginning that I didn't pick up when I first saw it. It was very brilliantly done.

I still like to watch The Rookie even though it's gotten absurd by the number of situations they keep putting uniformed cops into. The season premiere had Nolan and his non-cop wife in Europe as part of a joint task force global operation. One season they went to South America off the books and took on a cartel! An alien invasion wouldn't be considered absurd by this point.

Just finally sat down for the season 2 premier of The Pitt, a show getting well deserved praise for its realism, IMHO. While I think it's been giving an excellent portrayal, this season opens with a rather huge bone to pick for me, which doesn't really represent any spoilers, because all its promo footage & photos include it as a feature. It probably won't even factor into the breadth of the season much, under the circumstances.

It's lead character opens the show, driving to the hospital, on a motorcycle, jetting thru the Pittsburgh streets... without a helmet on. Oh, he HAS one with him. He just isn't wearing it, for some asinine reason. As someone who has carefully ridden motorcycles for 35 years, (knowing the risks) has worked with doctors 25 years (some in an ER) and personally had an uncle who lived out his last year in a home, never mentally recovering from an unhelmeted motorcycle accident brain injury, withering away more every day, I'll just say this.

I've never known or even heard of a doctor who even rides motorcycles, but NO doctor, in their right mind, (least of all an ER chief attending, who's likely treated hundreds+ motorcyclists) would EVER ride a motorcycle without a helmet on. Hell, in the same episode, another doc tells a bicyclist patient THEY should always wear one (they should)

I don't know wtf is going on here, or HTF they're maybe planning to write this into the show (tragically I'd imagine) but even if they plan to depict it horribly realistically, it's still dumb. No ER chief doc would need to learn this lesson the hard way, unless he's out of his damn mind. What, dude... You're gonna hack a 15 hour shift & then speed home exhausted, in city traffic, completely unprotected? Lunacy!

I'm left to assume it's meant to highlight the fact that, to my surprise, (& I had to look this up) somehow Pittsburgh doesn't have universal helmet laws, (a law I'm actually personally against, even though I advocate always wearing them. It's solely the governmental authority to mandate it I'm against)

So, if this is all some poorly concocted stunt to grandstand for promoting helmet laws, I'm going to be really disappointed in this show, for how badly it's being presented... But it's early, and I'm still clueless about where that's going. It's just not sitting well with me, right now. I mean if Dr. Robby is doing this because he's suicidal or something, there's way more reliable ways to end yourself than f*cking up your brain an indiscriminate amount :wtf:

Sorry for the rant here (I didn't see a Pitt thread) but this really chapped my ass lol
