What are you watching???

Earth Abides, Season 01, Episode 06: Forever Is Tomorrow Is Today
LANDMAN, Season 01, Episode 08: Clumsy, This Life
Scott And Bailey, Series 03, Episode 5: Witness

Watched this creepy little gem tonight. Highly recommended if you like your horror artsy and slow-burn disturbing. Great performances too.

(Post edited to remove embedded trailer because while I was hoping it would pique people's interest, I decided it revealed too much. I saw the film the first time completely cold and it was so much better for it. The movie in question is 2013's Stoker.)

I'd shown my roommate some isolated Smallville clips on YouTube before, just to gauge his interest, and we finally sat down to watch the first three episodes of Season 1 on Blu-Ray tonight. I restrained the urge to give him a ton of spoilers, and by the end of "Hothead" he said he liked what he saw so far, and was interested in more but didn't want to go overboard right away.

I watched an older (2017) documentary called Leftovers over the weekend. It's about the hunger issues affecting senior citizens in the USA. It was fascinatingly sad and eye-opening. Fighting local hunger is my pet issue, but my focus has been on children. I am considering either shifting or broadening my focus after watching this.

If anyone is interested in watching Leftovers, I found it on Tubi.

Silo S2E5-6 (Finally a helmet)
The Expanse S1E5 (Hello Rocinante and welcome to the Butcher of Anderson Station (I highly recommend reading that The Exapanse book (The Butcher of Anderson Station) btw))

I really should watch The Expanse again right from the start.. It's so good

I wanted to watch Stargate Atlantis again too but not sure that one has aged as well as I'd like to think so. My opinion changes every single time I do a rewatch

I have rewatched The Expanse at least three times in addition to the initial watch. The last rewatch was while I was reading the books for the first time. When I finished a book, I would rewatch the season corresponding to the book. The sad thing is, after Book 6, no more seasons. At least the happenings in Laconia, were explained better in the books. I'm almost finished with my first reading of the Expanse book 8, Tiamat's Wrath. Even though the series was good, I find the books to be even better.

Books almost always are better because your imagination can fill things in.

My roommate and I watched three more Smallville episodes tonight; he surprised me by wanting to pick it back up so soon. Overall, he seemed to still enjoy it, but he felt the freak-of-the-week concept was starting to get old. He said he noticed that Lex was becoming darker, to which I simply said "You ain't seen nothing yet." His last comment was that he disliked how Harry Volk's fate was left ambiguous at the end of "Hourglass", despite enjoying the rest of that story.

Yeah, my latest watch is a rewatch for me - I watched it for the first three seasons and then read a bunch of the books including some one-offs for some of the characters. The story is much more explained in the books but I do like the series very much (hence the rewatch, with someone who has not seen it).

I'm re-watching the Lord Of The Rings movies. (Finally invested in getting the extended versions on BluRay a little while ago. No regrets.)

TV-wise I just started my zillionth re-watch of Dallas (original series) because I like to start a new year with my comfort show.

some more 80s stuff I found my copy of D.A.R.Y.L This was an interesting slice of 80s nostalgia about a robot boy named Daryl.

Oh this one's a little emotional at the end.
I got dust in my eye.

My home's marathon of Smallville continues, with my roommate and I reaching the 11th episode "Hug" last night. Of those we've watched so far, the only one he kept getting irritated over was "Rouge", repeatedly saying Clark should've torn crooked cop Sam Phelan's head off every couple of minutes. It became truly annoying, but I'm trying to remain patient and keep the peace.
