Today was The Fellowship of the Ring

Normally we start on NY Eve but idiot rednecks in the area think it’s funny to fire off fireworks all night and the dogs were a mess. So we hung out in the bedroom with them all on the bed to keep them from having heart attacks.

I haven't seen it yet but interested in other people's thoughts. Why isn't it grabbing you?

The jokes all fall flat, the characters are not terribly likable or interesting, which is odd considering the subject matter. It's just a pale imitation of the original. Seemed much less funny and kind of mean. Not terrible but not good, either.

In my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

Max took it off the service, so I had to switch to Hulu.

Watched the Rose Bowl Oregon/Ohio State game last night. That was hard to watch Oregon being outplayed at almost every turn. Ohio State will be a great competitor for Texas (hook ‘em horns!) in the Cotton Bowl. Can’t wait to see that one.

Back to LOTR anuual rewatch tonight with the second movie (extended) The Two Towers

What are your thoughts of the recent animated one being promoted?

None really…haven’t really paid attention that there was an animated one being made, will have to check it out.

To us the movies are the top of the heap. We watch them once a year and I fall in love again with Legolas, Aragorn and Boromir every time. (We also play The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game (Fantasy Flight Games) regularly. We’ve almost made our way all through the core set, 8 expansion sets and all the cycle expansion and stand alone scenarios. We’ve got 2 scenarios left of the last expansion set cycle and then we’ve got the Saga expansions left to play through).

We absolutely love LOTR.

Well this one has Peter Jackson's name attached to it and it's called the War Of The Rohirrim

I just watched an ESPN documentary on the creation of the Premier Lacrosse League. Last year I watched a documentary about an expansion team for the National Lacrosse League (indoor lacrosse). These documentaries are interesting..... but I still don't have any interest in watching lacrosse on TV.

Sugar Bowl (Tough, tough fighting to start this game with Notre Dame always seeming to keep Georgia under a tight reign. Good game and it’s nice to see Notre Dame having a strong season).

Disk 1 of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Gandalf the White! We ran out of steam once disk 1 ended and saved disk 2 for tonight).
