Godzilla (2014)
This is a pretty good movie, but it had problems. The main human character was bland and I didn't really care if he found his family or not. Bryan Cranstan should have stuck around, he was a lot more interesting. Also, it needed more of the monsters. It was way too happy to "tease" fights but cut it off right when it got interesting. What we saw of the monster fights was really good (when it wasn't a bit too dark), and Godzilla and the MUTO's looked good. But, the movie didn't seem to get that the monster stuff is the real draw of the film, and so we never get a real full fight scene. We get parts of them and they're good, sometimes very good (Godzilla's use of his atomic breath was especially awesome), but even at the end we don't get an uninterrupted fight scene, and that's a big problem.
Still, its a good movie, but hopefully they learn from their mistakes in the sequel(s) they have planned, and write more interesting human characters and actually show us full monster fights without spending the whole movie teasing and never really giving the viewers a big enough pay off to the teases.
