I'm about to start Season 1 of Seaquest DSV to see how it holds up. I primarily watched Season 3 because I wanted to see how they handled the Commander Ford/Lonnie Henderson romance; it was cute but ended very weak.
I'm also watching episodes of Jason of Star Command on Hulu. I remember watching the show when I was little, but I don't remember the exact episodes. It was one year after Star Wars made it's debut, so I'm sure there was some inspiration. I get more of a Star Trek/Buck Rogers vibe from the show....with a hint of Star Wars, especially with the toy robot - WIKI - that was used for the show.
It's definitely cheesy and hammy at times (i.e. the classic Buck Rogers part of the show) but fun...especially with Sid Haig as the villain Dragos. James Doohan is also present as a lead officer.
Since it's a Filmation show, I noticed that they used a few elements that show up in other Filmation shows: The environmental belts that are used in Star Trek: The Animated Series, 'that incidental music' that I remember hearing in Star Trek: TAS and Mighty Mouse: The Great Space Chase (if you're familiar with Filmation shows, you'll know the music I'm talking about), and certain voice actors that turn up (e.g. a voice for one of Dragos' minions is also the voice of a Harry the Heartless' minion in the Mighty Mouse film).
I'm also watching episodes of Space Academy here and there.
In regards to more contemporary shows: The Americans ended on a low-key finale, and House of Lies ended on a 'cute' finale - I may buy it, the show, on DVD someday.
