What are you watching???

I have just seen Terminator Genisys, actually not that bad but time travel movies inevitably leave me confused because they rarely explain some paradoxes well.

Main thing i didn't get and someone could explain please:

So the movie starts by following the standard formula.. Skynet gets defeated, John Connor sends Kyle Reese back in time to protect an untrained Sarah Connor and father John Connor, so far so good. First deviation is that while Kyle is in the time machine he sees John Connor apparently die due to a a Terminator.

Now before Kyle travels back we see the original T-800 take the trip so where the heck did all these different Terminators appear in the changed timeline that Kyle Reese arrives to?

Did Skynet send them before it sent the original T-800 to 1984?

I can't wrap my head around why the timeline has changed, killing John Connor in the future after the fact shouldn't change anything.

Also what was that with Kyle remembering different timelines, how did that come to be?

The movie touched on it but other than explaining it away as a sort of "This is what happened" it doesn't say how and why and what caused Kyle to see and remember a different timeline.

Other than this it was a solid movie and probably the best post T2 movie.. i liked the fact that they found a simple solution to explain Arnold's advanced age and the new Terminator was also quite cool even if they, mid movie, telegraphed it how they would defeat him, that was a bit weak.

Acting was a bit mediocre across the range (not from Arnold, he's supposed to be inhuman and stiff so not much to work with there) but Emilia Clarke was kind of bland (best part for me was that little scene where they prepare for the final battle, she finds her old cassette deck and bops along to the music while building bombs.. that was cute). Loved Jai Curtney in Spartacus but he just doesn't click with me since then.

There was a lot of last minute rewritres and intrusion from the studio, and the writers and director did not communicate at all well. It's truly a miracle that the movie was as articulate as it was.

Matt Smith's Skynet was foreign. He was from a different parallel timeline, who had the power to travel sideways in time to alternate timelines rather than just backwards and Forwards. This was explained in an apology letter from one of the writers. Posing as a tech priming the displacement device to send Kyle back to 1984, Skynet (who seems to be from the future of a parallel timeline (Imagine a 2068 where humanity has been dead for 50 years and Skynet rules the earth, which isn't this timeline because we just saw John say that Skynet was dead.)which is how Skynet had superior tech to the Skynet the John just destroyed.) had the acumen to send Kyle diagonally to the wrong 1984 rather than in a straight line to the right 1984 in in the original movie, and might have, although there are other possible explanations, but that's the one I like.

Matt Smith's Skynet was going to play a bigger part in the next two movies.

John wasn't killed in 2027. He was converted and recruited.

First episode of Bojack.

You know, a lot of people have asked the question, "It seems in the internet era it's silly that broadcast television still exists. How can we be the one to take all their business away?"

And finally, somebody said "How about we just produce higher quality shows that people actually want to watch?" and didn't get promptly fired.

OITNB, Sense8, I've heard good things about Wet Hot American Summer. Netflix is killing it.

World's Most Dangerous Roads

Two celebrity friends traverse some idiotically dodgy roads somewhere in the world. The banter is what makes this watchable.

Frostrup & Deaton in Madagascar was good and now Hugh Bonneville & Jessica Hynes in Georgia.
