What are you watching???

JS&MN

It's slick, well written, has high production values and interesting characters but I'm slightly losing interest to be honest. Every episode feels identical. Creepy, hammy Mark Warren, mad women, the raven king. GET. ON. WITH. IT! And I do wish people would stop saying "English" magic.

Having just finished the book, I can tell you that "things" are going to start happening. An important theme of the book is that the English (like most countries) think that only they are civilized so that only English magic, which serves England, is important, so that is why they keep saying it. Plus, this takes place during the Napoleonic Wars and any time a country is at war, nationalism, naturally, is at fever-pitch.

Mark Warren's character-known in the book only as The Man with the Thistle-Down Hair or The Man in the Green Coat--gets much, MUCH scarier later on--at least in the book. I find it interesting to see how this ginormous book gets condensed down in the series.

So far, I think Stephen Black's character has been skimped on. I think they could've thrown in a few lines to help explain him a bit more, since he is a very important character in the story.

But I will keep watching. I just finished the book this weekend, so it's exciting to see the show immediately afterwards.

Then he really ought to be saying British magic. My issue is more the fact that it gets said (mostly by Mr Norrell) about twelve times per episode (oh and we are the most civilised).

Watching women's World Cup - England women Vs Norway women

Just finished The Blacklist Season 1 Episode 1 "Pilot". It was awesome. Starting Season 1 Episode 2 "The Freelancer" right now.

Mr.Norrell doesn't consider Scotland or Wales worth mentioning and the magic they do there is either unworthy or dangerous (the Raven King's terriorty). It's in the book, somewhere. It's a wonderful book, if you have time to read nearly 800 pages.

Blew through Season 3 of Orange Is The New Black last weekend. Started on Sense8 a few days ago. The Mrs. & I are enjoying it so far. Think we're up to Episode 8.

Q2

Watching the first episode of the Winds of War miniseries since I'm pretty far into the book. The voiceovers are silly, but it's not bad.

*Sledge Hammer (Note: I saw this when I was kid and remember it being quite funny. So, I rented the 1st season from my local library. And, after watching the pilot....I think I'll return the DVDs back to the local library. Apparently, being a kid some standards aren't yet in place; basically, I didn't laugh once).
*War of the Worlds (1980s series)

The spoils of Babylon

Hmm, so this is painfully awful despite the impressive cast. Feels like an attempt to do a Garth Marenghi type show but it's just tedious. I think a Darkplace rewatch is in order.
