Both of these unaired shows are the worst thing to happen to Star Trek since the last thing to happen to Star Trek.
Indeed. Complete disregard for canon, Gene's vision and none of the showrunners are real Star Trek fans. Both of these unaired shows are the worst thing to happen to Star Trek since the last thing to happen to Star Trek.
It's okay, they've already been fired.Indeed. Complete disregard for canon, Gene's vision and none of the showrunners are real Star Trek fans.
They don't even necessarily need to get serious in my opinion; it just need to have some heart.^ I do still plan on giving Lower Decks a chance.
Like I said, if LD tries even just a little bit to deal with serious issues, I'll be thrilled. Obviously this show is a comedy, but even comedies can play it straight when the situation calls for it.
Worked for M*A*S*H, didn't it?![]()
I'd like to think it certainly could.I've yet to see any reason why Lower Decks won't have heart or have serious moments.
While I am always careful to manage personal expectations I do expect this show to have heart and serious moments.I'd like to think it certainly could.
Even worse than fired: they're being forced to make more shows. It's like when you get caught smoking a cigarette and your dad makes you smoke a whole pack. CBS is so fed up with bad Star Trek that they just make them make more and more until they get sick. It's okay, they've already been fired.
Two questions about Prodigy:
- Time frame?
- Name of the ship?
There are like six cities called that, as well as tw0 Salvadorian footballers. On a vaguely related matter: The ship from LD is named Cerritos. What does 'Cerritos' mean?
It's Spanish for "little hills". Also a town in Southern California. There's a town in Northern California call "El Cerrito" as well.^ Ha ha.
Memory Alpha doesn't have the answers to either of those questions so I'm guessing that the showrunners just haven't given the info yet.

Looks like there's your reason for the Cerritos being of the California class.![]()

Seriously though, it's an abandoned starship commanded by "lawless" teens. This makes me think that it's post-24th century where starships are a little more autonomous (the ship might have an AI as a character), and where the Federation is either in really bad shape (i.e. shrunk down/destroyed, or just plain dystopic/evil).
Whatever the name is, I assume it will have a classic Starfleet name from decades (centuries?) past, but the teens will rename it to something relevant to their story.
I’m not interested in checking out either show. I’m happy for those who are tho, of course. The more shows, the more fans, all fine with me.![]()
USS Rancho CucamongaI legit assume all California-class ships will be named for California towns.
