Spoilers What are the odds of Cornwell making it to the end of the season?

Okay those emoticons are cute.

It's all about psych evaluations first I would imagine. I shudder to think what is going to happen to her but she is an Admiral and that might gain her some.. respect from the Klingons. Or not. I was annoyed she didn't make better decisions with Lorca earlier but she looked so slight and like.. oh shit.. I'm in big trouble now.
They did not seem to have much respect for the Admiral that was commanding the Europa.

So far, their treatment of Admirals is that they are great to use as targets in order to terrorise the Federation rank and file.

The klingons needs her for some kind of leverage, at least for a while. I think she will die during the first season.

don't think so - they can't kill off women all the time. it would annoy female viewers. they need to kill one or two recurring male figures first or be accused of not taking women seriously.

and killing a dozen male one-way redshirts won't do the trick.

I have a hunch, female lead or not, that there aren't a ton of women watching this show.

I'd like to know what the numbers are on that though.

three proffesionally annoyed women are enough for bad press

that'll mean bye-bye lorca - or pike bottles it royally

Yes, it means endanger Lorca's career in the Star Fleet. But isn't it make the story more interesting? But if she's tortured, she will got mentally ill or got traumatized. Maybe she can't think straight after that, or even still capable to do her job as an admiral.

Just imagine it, when Lorca think his career being saved, suddenly he got a news about the rescue of the admiral by The Enterprise. He becomes panic. But her condition is not fit / she's not healthy mentally. Like she got amnesia because of severe traumatized from her experience with Klingon, and must be medicated in a hospital. But her condition is like a time bomb for Lorca, as she become better and better, and the captain start to panic, and plan to kill her secretly...... LOL. And we got an evil Lorca.

two episodes until somebody finds out - cpt matt decker to take over discovery?

it may also provide a reason for him to get nuts later (something in the airfilters - maybe those spors)

If Discovery goes that way, many characters will be chop out from the show sooner and later. Because everyone have their flaw, and their flaw are... deadly. Make no one can survive more than 2 seasons of the show. We can just start the countdown for Lorca. Who know he will survive, but unlikely. It's also true to Burham, Stamet and Ash or something guy (the Klingon Prisoner who saved by Lorca). They are all have the potential to be out from the show. Either dead or kick out from the ship.

you do know this trek needs to be different? - if it was still the same we are stuck with jim kirk and i'm still 3 years old (or eight for the german release) - let me tell you something: i'm 53 and as trek i changed (a lot)

I have really grown to like this character. She's ballsy, smart, driven and also caring. I love that they made her a psychologist who rose to the Admiral rank via a medical career.

It would make me really sad if she were killed in the line of duty, since we've already had two other significant female characters die on the show so far: Georgiou and Landry. If Cornwell's fate is to die at the hands of the Klingons, then I hope she goes out as a badass, fighting till her last gasping breath.

Does anyone think she has a chance in hell of getting rescued and making it back in one piece? I'd like to think that the crew of the Discovery will at least try to recover her. The season trailers do have a few brief shots which would support this.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

Kudos to Jane Brooks for really fleshing out this character and making me invested in her well-being.
Indications (as of this last episode) are tending to: 0% chance. ;)

There will be a rescue attempt, as we see the Admiral and Burnham fighting Klingons in what looks like ritual combat. Success it the tricky part. Burnham will get away since she's the main character...the Admiral? Maybe, if nothing else for her to have experienced at least some of the trauma that Lorca has, and to gain a respect for the choices Burnham made the day the war started.

That could be enough to clear her record and her remove her attempted mutiny from the books if the Admiral views it as the correct course of action given they were facing Klingons. This would put the deceased Captain Georgiou in the wrong, but they will likely overlook that since she still followed Starfleet procedures, even though it wasn't in their own interests to do so given the culture they were facing.

Is Cornwell still alive? I'm leaning towards yes, but it was unclear as to whether she survived the fight with L'Rell or not. If the electrocution were at a fatal level, how did L'Rell manage to withstand it as well, holding her up against the broken conduit at the time?

Also the lingering shots of her prone didn't seem to have the hallmarks of death. Which they could have easily done. For example: eyes open and glassy or a huge smoking gash or other wound that looked unsurvivable, or make up to give her a deathly pallor etc. She just looked beaten up and knocked out to me.

Also, in the After Trek the actress Jayne Brook said something which might have been an inadvertent indication of her future status.

I was trying to think of what the point would be in giving her character hope of survival, last episode. The set up that L'Rell wants on Discovery. The fight scene could still have been part of a plan to hide intent as L'Rell was only exposed by Kol afterwards. Though who knows if the Admiral either later died or was disposed of.

L'Rell is still going to want revenge and keeping the Admiral alive would work to her advantage.

I think Cornwell is still alive. I also think there's a pretty high likelihood Kol will make her into shoes before the season is over.

Didn't we see both Cormwell and Burnham together on a Klingon ship in one of the really early trailer? Before we even knew who Cormwell was?

There's a shot of her beating on L'Rell in the trailer which was at the end of ep 2. But the stuff with Burnham confronting Kol and picking up a Klingon knife to charge at him appears to not have Cornwell visible. Maybe we just assumed it was the same scene?

Judging by the look of horror that Ted Sullivan gave her on After Trek when asked above her characters longevity I suggest she's mad it to ep 9 at least!
