Who are currently your 4 favorite TNG characters, who've each appeared in at least 7 season 1-7 TNG episodes and please separately say why, for each fave character named.

-Data
I always found Data to be an interesting character. I specificly liked Data episodes like "measure of a man" and "Datalore'. He always seemed innocent and likeable, an over all amiable character. However I never liked the emotion chip.

-Dr.Crusher
I always liked Beverly. She was always kind of a normal character, shes not an alien no strange back story. But I always liked the Dr.Crusher episodes especially ones with her and Picard like "attached".

-Worf
I thought Worf was a good Klingon. I liked that we got to see him grow from a mean tough klingon to a good starfleet officer.

-Geordi
I liked Geordi and thought he was a good human character. However I think that there could have been more Geordi episodes.

How poorly seasons six and seven and the movies turned out, I have a hard time picking favorites now.

Eh, just to humor myself.

1. Data: Simply put....who couldn't love that? He's just so childlike and innocent. Not to mention completely oblivious, but he tries and you can't help but love him for that. Regardless of all the innocence though, he had swagger. Like he was sexy and he knew it, but didn't. That kind of thing.

2. Geordi: Without him, the Enterprise would be dead in the water too many times to count. He had a great rear bumper, as well.

3. Riker: In the first season, he just seemed too sure of himself and cocky. Over the years, though he mellowed out a bit and was more likeable as a Commanding officer.

4. Crusher: She wasn't just another pretty face to gawk at. She was a go-getter and she really knew how to put her foot down and do what was right, not only in her own mind; but according to everyone else. What I liked about her was that she was able to drop everything to help people without letting herself be turned into a doormat.

1. Data. Because he's Data:) And Stromboli in disguise. *belts out* Bravo, Stromboli!!!

2. Deanna Troi. OK, she IS a bit annoying at times, but...I don't know. There's just something incredibly sweet about her. And she has her funny moments, too. Plus, she's hot as well!

3. Worf. Klingons are awesome, and Worf is no exception. I love how he always gets knocked out and he is very sweet to his son. Aww!:klingon:

4. Geordi. I love the friendship between him and Data. Plus, I'm a bit obsessed with his headgear. I WANT.

1. Picard - He's always poised and sophisticated, but also has no problem knowing when he is wrong or looking to his command team for courses of action. He's a well-rounded commander and he's enjoyable to watch.

2. Data - Everything about Data is just great, from his quest to be more human to his ability to quickly anaylsis a situation without emotion. His quirky movements are fun to watch as well.

3. Dr. Crusher - she's pretty, but also extremely intelligent. Sometimes she ignores orders, but when she does its because she's trying to save lives. (But was she in all 7 seasons?)

4. Geordi - I've grown to like him while watching TNG recently. He's smart and always willing to go the extra mile and he doesn't let people ripping on him for being blind (the Romulan that held him captive on that planet) get him down or worked up. The only thing that irritates me about him sometimes his how he seems to snip back at the Captain or Riker when he's asked a question, but that may be more from my own military experience than the fault of the character. :)

Sorry I only rank characters who have been in at least 8 season 1-7 TNG episodes and have also done a minimum of 3 guest spots in DS9.

Clearly you are talking about the greatest TNG character of all time: Commander Keiran MacDuff.

Data - his often unintentional humor is great, and I've always liked his (over)analytical nature and perception of things.

Worf - cuz he's Klingon. Sometimes his brooding nature is annoying, and I hate that stupid little grin he gets when he says "Rokeg blood pie," but overall he a great character - the "giant" of the team, so to speak.

Geordi - the cool engineer who's a total loser. He'd be the perfect BF for a girl, but they're too dumb to give him a chance. Super smart, and his attention to detail is commendable. All he needs to do is ball up a bit and he'd be fightin' off the girls.

Riker - get's some decent girls and is a pretty competent commander. Has great chemistry with the crew.

All that said, if Ro Laren had become a regular character, she'd have been my #1.

:bolian:

#4 Laforge - Despite whatever short comings the character had, they did invest in him a great deal, & though episodes that centered on his social traits were dull, there were many episodes in which he was featured really well. The Mind's Eye, Identity Crisis, & The Enemy are all really good, for example, but more than being useful for a small amount of focal episodes, which can also be said of Crusher or Riker, he was also one of the integral people that the dynamic of the crew was really set by.

Face it, until Laforge there was no such thing as "technobabble", & that's because most actors, quite frankly, couldn't deliver it interestingly enough to merit putting it in there, but Burton delivers it so effortlessly, that it doesn't bore, & instead becomes the backdrop for the stories

#3 Worf - Worf is really one of only 2 characters on TNG that got a full blown character arc, & it stands out as being a substantial part of the quality of TNG on the whole. Starting with Sins of the Father in season 3, & carrying through seasons 4 & 5 with Reunion & Redemption. There was a real sense that this character had ongoing growth, So much so that season 6's Birthright & Rightful Heir make use of it further.

In a way, when you look at TOS, the one alien life form that is explored the deepest due to Spock's featured presence, was the Vulcan, & in TNG, thanks to having Worf aboard, the same is true of its relationship to the exploration of the Klingon culture, which was far more intricate than it had been presented previously, or in short, TOS is to Vulcans because of Spock as TNG is to Klingons because of Worf

#2 Picard - Let's just come out and say it. The actor behind that character just plain made you want to watch him more than any of the other characters, whether he's doing things as profound as being tortured & interrogated like a war criminal, & overcoming the horrors of being victimized by The Borg, or things as silly or mundane as taking down trilithium resin thieves, looking for the Tox Uthat, or having some alien try to force him to fall in love with her

His presence was what made all those things interesting. You couldn't ask for a better actor to sell Star Trek

#1 Data - Well, here it is folks, the only character arc that ever mattered to me in all Star Trek. The exploration of the soul of an emotionally bereft man. People get confused by it, because it seemingly makes no sense. Only after you are willing to admit what no one admits can you begin to understand the character arc

As much as it is professed otherwise, by everyone, Data does indeed have emotions, emotions which are so microscopic in presentation, that no one sees them or recognizes them, including Data himself, & as I see it, That was Soong's plan all along, for Data to discover his emotions incrementally, so that he could have the benefit of learning about them fully, before having to deal with them, & risk losing himself to them as was the case with Lore, who's only flaw was being a slave to his emotions

When you look at it that way, The Data saga is one of the coolest things Star Trek ever did, even if they did tend to muck it up a bit in the movies, like they mucked up everything else. My favorite reference to point out Data's emotions is the scene from Data's Day where he dictates a log to Maddox
It is fortunate that I am able to perform my duties without emotional distractions. If that were not the case, a sudden course correction toward the Neutral Zone would make me very... nervous.
Then he takes note of himself unconsciously tapping his fingers on the console, which is clearly to indicate that he recognizes his own trepidation & distraction by the event. There it is, the infinitesimal emergence of an emotional being

Worf-Klingons are my favorite species. And it was nice to see that Klingons do have a heart

Picard-In my opinion, the best captain ever

Riker-loyal, fun loving, serious. Everything a number 1 should be

Geordi-excellent engineer, good character.

Picard, Worf, O'Brien and...

hm...

Pulaski, I guess. I liked her a lot more than Crusher.

Data is getting on my nerves lately.

- Picard - Best captain and character of all ST series. Patrick stewart did an Excelente job.
- Data - His search for becoming more human and his dialogues are unique.
- Dr. Crusher - She is so beautiful and I love her "relationship/soft romance" with Picard.
- La Forge - He looks cool with that visor.
