I kind of like Waring Hudsucker.

Are we being tested by some sort of odd AI? I've noticed a few I think might be the case.

If there's a discussion here somewhere, let's get to it. Otherwise, we'll close this and leave the toy-naming for elsewhere...

There is Fairuza Balk - a gorgeous actress - whose name (Fairuza) I've always found to be most uncommon and especially pretty. If I ever have a daughter of my own, though, her name will (most assuredly) be Portia - which I'm quite taken by. Portia is the heroine of William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. I have a penchant for the works of Shakespeare and own them all. STAR TREK, of course, is heavily influenced by his works, as well.

As to specific STAR TREK names to give a girl, you know what? I'm kind of resistant to that idea. I don't know of too many I'd feel comfortable using. But a few that seem to make the grade would be ...

Caitlin (Dar) of STAR TREK V: The Final Frontier
Aurelan (Kirk) of THE ORIGINAL SERIES
Rain (Robinson) of VOYAGER

A friend of mine named his daughter Aeryn, after Aeryn Sun in FARSCAPE. That kinda works, because it's pronounced "Erin" which isn't too obviously sci-fi.

I vote against "Borg Queen," however.

Female names?

Troi
Crusher
Tasha
Uhura
Chapel
Kira
Dax
Janeway
Kes
Seven of Nine

You are right mam. I am not giving her a name of star trek. I have searched portia also.Take care

The girl's name Portia is of Latin origin. Derived from the element Porcus . Feminine form of a Roman clan name. Portia was used by Shakespeare as the name of a clever, determined young heroine in "The Merchant of Venice" who disguises herself as a lawyer to save her husband's

True story. Recently some neighbors had a baby girl, whom they named Cordelia.

"Oh," I said, "from King Lear?"

"No," they replied. "From Lois McMaster Bujold."
