what actors need a good TV show and why?

Lance Henrikson is a good choice. He was terrific on Mllennium as Frank Black, regardless of the writing sometimes, and far too often has relegated himself to B-movie roles. For him a paycheck is a paycheck, and while I totally understand that philosophy, I wish he was being paid to work on better material.

Definitely agree that Connor Trinneer needs his own show. He was the only reason I stuck around for that last season of SG:Atlantis.

Clancy Brown is another actor who just draws your attention. It would be nice to see him in a regular role, rather than just a guest star. I remember he was pretty good on "Earth 2."

Christopher Eccleston and David Anders both just ooze star potential; either one could easily carry his own drama. Too bad Eccleston left Dr. Who so early; he was fantastic in it.

Ian McShane--now that Kings is over, I want to see more of him. Hell, I'd pay just to watch him read the phone book. The man just dominates every scene he is in. Doesn't matter if it's Lovejoy or Deadwood; he is THE MAN. :techman:

I'm almost tempted to add Mandy Pantinkin, but, um,....yeah, that hasn't worked out so well. Every time he gets his own series, he has a complete nervous breakdown.

I havent read the whole thread but has anyone mentioned Adrian Pasdar? If they hadnt stupidly killed off his character in Heroes- I would have loved a Nathan Petrelli: Flying DA series. :p

I'm curious to see him playing a "nice guy" role or at least nicer than he has; a crusty but basically kind eccentric billionaire for instance. Or go the other direction and give him some kind of Jeckyl/Hyde mental problem.

Another one: Katee Sackhoff, assuming her 24 gig is shortterm (24 itself is shortterm - isn't next season its last? Maybe Katee will get to be the one to kill Jack!) But no more macho roles for her - she should be a slinky, duplicious, completely amoral vixen next time.

Also: Jeri Ryan, who is a good actress and would be interesting to see in some non-sexed-up role. Have her play a nerdy schlub or frumpy housewife or a deranged mental patient.

How about Lark Voories. I always thought she would do better after "Saved by the Bell."

William Saddler)Sloan, Ds9)=He is good in everything he does. It would be nice to see him in a higher caliber show than "Roswell" were he can have a bigger role, than just playing the adult character.

3Tom Root=Name might be wrong. He was in "Newsradio" and "Office Space" and a whole bunch of stuff. I would love to see a show were he is actually the star.

Never seen Lovejoy? It's what he's probably still best known for in the UK. He played a slightly roguish (but of the lovable variety) antiques dealer and became a sort of housewives' heartthrob as a result. It was a shock for many people to see him calling people cocksuckers and the likes ...

Just because a character is killed doesn't mean they are off the show in a fantasy/sci-fi series. LMAO. I think you're naive if you think Adrian is off Heroes (in fact, we know he's not). I wouldn't be shocked if they found a way to resurrect Nathan or split him out of Sylar or something. He's going nowhere, IMO. It wasn't stupid to kill him off, because it just means that Adrian Pasdar now gets to play Sylar-playing-Nathan and an arc of self-discovery. For him, it's an acting opportunity!

Ever seen a Joss Whedon show? :rommie: If you die, it just means there's an even greater chance of you having more appearances than ever before! Darla, anyone? She died 4 times and still came back as a ghost (not to mention the glut of flashbacks)! Angel? Spike? Buffy? Lilah? Holland? The fact that we've seen Wesley, Cordy, Warren, Tara, Jonathan and even freakin' Catherine Madison (I wonder if she's still in her trophy buried in the Hellmouth) appear in recent comics? The First was just an excuse to bring back a parade of the dead and the living dead. Characters like the Master and the Mayor were popping up years after they were dead. Hell, Kakistos just got a comic outing.

Death means NOTHING in modern fantasy.

Weee-elll...

They may have killed Nathan but Pasdar has still got a job on Heroes, and in fact I think when push comes to shove, Quinto is the one who will be looking for another gig. But Heroes won't last forever, and when it finally gets the axe, I definitely want to see Pasdar back on another series and Quinto too if he'll still do TV at that point.

Yep, I've seen Lovejoy but I was thinking about a character a bit further afield from that persona...

Alexis is going to be on Dollhouse for a few episodes this upcoming season 2. After the Alexis drought (it was to the point of him being in pictures with his attention-getting pregnant wife and their new baby girl was the biggest thing he had done in years), this is VERY big news. Looking at him in paparazzi photos centered on Aly was about all we saw since the end of AtS and a few episodes of his wife's show. If anyone should have been getting casting people knocking down their door... Granted, he's in his 40s (which is also a problem for James Marsters, who is heading for 50 now). His name was getting bandied about heavily for James Bond a few years ago, but it was just the fan community who kept bringing up his name. He just never got on the Hollywood radar.

And hopefully they'll finally give Amy the credit she deserves on Dollhouse and make Whiskey a main character. Seriously underrated. Another example of AtS being the red-headed stepchild of the Jossverse, despite running for 5 successful seasons.

oh I know Pasdar is not off Heroes, but, sadly, I think his character is pretty much done. I have this sick feeling that Sylar is gonna win the body war & phase out the Nathan persona. And the comment about a Nathan spin-off was just me being facetious. I think NBC is finally sick of anything Heores & wants it gone fast.

They better wait till they see how their new fall lineup does. Heroes at least has buzz and international pull. Their new lineup is far too generic to do well in either area. My prediction is yet another NBC bloodbath, with a few of them hanging on by their fingernails with a very modest audience good for maybe two seasons if they're lucky. There aren't any shows in their fall lineup that look like they have breakout-hit potential at all. NBC's strategy is mere survival, not hitting for the fences.

In the body-wars, my money's still on Nathan, since now that they have Robert Knepper to be their resident kick-ass villain, Sylar's value will plummet accordingly, and to permanently lose his identity to Nathan would be a suitably ironic end for the character.

In fact, here's how I envision it happening: Peter finds out the truth about Nathan, and after spending a few episodes throwing fits/trying to kill Nathan/yelling at Matt, Noah and Angela, he finally settles down and realizes that this new Nathan, tho not his brother, is a decent guy. Little by little, they become friends. Some angst ensues as it becomes obvious that Nathan is in danger of losing control to Sylar.

Then Nathan absorbs the power of being able to split in two, which results in a physical split between Nathan and Sylar. Nathan may do this in order to split Sylar off. That can lead to the final showdown between Peter and Sylar that we all expect, which now is not only to kill Sylar but also to save the Nathan persona (let's say there's a ticking-clock aspect to the split thing; it can only endure for a certain peroid of time, after which they merge and the assumption is, Sylar is now the dominant persona).

That should carry us thru S4 with the big battle the season finale, and if they develop Knepper well and hang onto the guy, he can take over Sylar's function in the story, assuming there is even going to be an S5. If there isn't, oh well, at least they finally will have resolved the Sylar story. In fact, it would be for the best if there isn't an S5, so that there will be no temptation to do the obvious - oh no, Sylar isn't really gone after all...

As already mentioned: William Fichtner. Great in everything he is in and really deserves his own show by now. Just don't do another Mahone character thing, where he's great at the start and then quickly goes downhill

I looove your scenario, I hope thats how it plays out more or less but i dont trust these writers to do anything that makes Sylar look weak. I have a feeling that even when they decide to kill off Sylar, it will be done in a way that will make him go down as somewhat of a good guy, or at least a better guy or a lesser of two evils type, like say he sacrifices himself to save the other lame duck heroes from a bigger bad at the end. Maybe that's what Knepper's purpose will eventually be. Have you seen Knepper in the previews? he looks awesome! I hope he doesnt end up wasted as yet more Sylar chow.
