What a beautiful moment.

I'm just watching Season 5 Episode 11, 'The Darkness and the Light.'

I've never really been overly fond of this episode, but its DS9 so I'll watch it all.

However on this viewing, I noticed something that I've never picked up on before which I think is quite beautiful really, both in what is actually happening, and the framing of the scene.

27 minutes in, when Odo is left with Kira in the medical bay, and she tells her story.

Until this point its never occurred to me that Odo is quite literally standing guard over her, showing, in the only way he can, his love for her. The way the moment is framed with Kira lying on the medical bed in the centre of the image and Odo standing behind her, its very touching really.

Anyway, I know its only a small thing, but I thought it was was worthy of comment.

I've been re-watching DS9 like many of you no doubt, over and over for years, and I still find things that surprise me.

Ok, another one... I'm rewatching DS9 from the beginning, and I just saw Kira's scene with the Kai...

"They're just waiting for you to forgive yourself."

Nana Visitor sold that scene like Quark sells booze.

I think the more we re-watch, the more we start to dissect the episode.

I always liked the Odo Kira thing. When Odo finally said to Kira ( it was actually a shapeshifter unbeknownst by Odo) that he was in love with her, I was actually surprised. It was moving. I didn’t see it coming. In re-watches I could see that this sub plot was being developed.
