I can get on board with this explanation. What happened to the crew?

Well, with like kelvin universe, the red angel suit "may" have taken discovery to another parallel dimension. And in this one's past, instead of it traveling to the future, this crew hide it in a nebula to hide from control.

Remember what happened to the Red Dwarf crew? Luckily Zora has "cleaning" DOT-7's at her disposal ;)

Well they're ripping off everything else that Trek has done so why not?

They own it, you can't ripoff yourself. ;) Though Trek's been "ripping off" it's self since the Sixties.

That other crew could have caused the Burn to destroy all ships cause they thought they're under control's control - so the Disco crew is responsible! But not that Disco crew, the other one! Weird is part of the job XD

Georgio goes back in time on disco and hides it in the nebula (ala Bill and Ted).

People have said this can’t be because Calypso Disco isn’t an “-A” and have all the upgrades but we’ve already had a short trek ship edited to fit with the main show. Prime Georgio’s shuttle from the brightest star.

Any other missing federation ships we know about already? USS Hera with Geordie’s mum?

    Better writers?
They’ll chuck the existing ones and get new ones that can write a decent Star Trek episode.

Or with programmable matter, the Discovery simply reverts to a 23rd century 'look' - but this doesn't necessarily track.
It would still have highly advanced technology onboard, including Zora and the Sphere Data.
Maybe, if it IS the USS Discovery, its possible that Starfleet may strip her of advanced technology before sending it back in time... or the crew may have done so.
But then, Calypso also indicated that the captain died... and I don't see Saru dying anytime soon.

Might be real Disco, or a temporal copy (gravitational waves the crew encountered) which never went to the future or something else.
We'll see in about 2 weeks time (probably - because Disco this season seems to revisit plots every 2 weeks).

Ok I have perhaps given this too much thought. But:

Zora in the Short Trek calypso loves Fred Astaire. Go to Spotify and listen to „he loves and she loves“ from Fred Astaire.

the melody that goes all around (e.g. ep.4 52:00) resembles this song very much.

also the Text fits perfectly into the short trek. I am 98% sure it is discovery

I‘ll go with a copy that thinks the crew is long dead. I don’t know why , but discovery must have waited there very long, so how should she think the crew was still alive. This only shows that it cannot be 100% planned.

I wish someone could do a wave form analysis of the two. This is all too trippy. Its either Calypso Discovery or something way out of left field.
