Wesley, the Academy, and The Traveller

Okay, so on Wes' first try, he loses out on admission to the Academy.

Why?

After all, Star Fleet knows that a being who can travel through time and space has picked Wes out as being "special." I'd've thought that SF would want to keep an eye on him where their best scientists could work with him, rather than let him out on a starship for another year--never knowing if he were going to be blown up.

I never saw Nemesis, were his scenes cut?

I heard they were, but I don't know if the deleted scenes were on the DVD. Anyone know if they were how they explained where he's been and what he's been doing since leaving with the Traveller?

I kinda doubt that Picard put that stuff in his log, not wanting Wesley or Starfleet to know what the Traveller said about him so that he wouldn't have that pressure or knowledge hanging over his head.

In the scenes there is no mention of the Traveler or what Wesley has been doing since beginning his training. The only thing discussed in the deleted scenes relates to Wesley being assigned as a Junior Engineer aboard the Titan.

Wesley's character didn't make any sense and when they whisked him away with the traveler in the later season I thought it was a cheap development for him (which basically had to do with the writers tying up loose ends).

Didnt you know?

Exploring the infinate dimensions of time and space counts towards your academy credits? :D

In the Nemesis cut scenes, Wesley has inexcplicably returned to Starfleet as an engineer on the Titan. A Starship which has, to quote wesley :

"A double refracting warp core with Twin iiiiinterrrmix chambers?????"

^ If you want resolution for Wesley read the first two books of the A Time To series. Much better...

I will probably never get around to that. Could ya spoiler code it for me? Pretty please?

^ But those were great books. They have a great deal of Wesley interaction and even a love interest. :-)

Wesley had learned a lot from The Traveler and they went to Tau Alpha C so that Wesley could be re-born as a Traveler. Before becoming a Traveler, Wesley had to gaze into the Pool of Prophecy to undergo the final test. Inside the Pool, he witnessed the destruction of the Enterprise at the Rashanar Battle Site. Following this, he left Tau Alpha C and went to the Enterprise to successfully prevent their destruction from a shape-shifting vessel from another dimension. He also found a girl-friend in those two books who later died. Wesley then became a true Traveler.

Assuming it was a traditional Betazoid wedding, he appeared nude. Picard found this unacceptable, and gave him a Starfleet Lieutenant's uniform to wear to the wedding.

Him being on the TITAN was never picked up in the Pocket Books.

I absolutely hated how they had Wesley get involved with that Traveller crap!!! :scream: :scream: :scream: I wish that his Nemesis scene wasn't cut, but I still consider it canon that he rejoined Starfleet since we saw him in the uniform. I enjoyed the "Time to" series by Pocket Books, but don't like what they did with Wesley.

I wonder how that works out having Wes as the Titan engineer:

Riker: "Dammit, we're surrounded by a fleet of Warbirds. Wesley! Take us to the fancy place where fantasies come true!"
