Rewatching Farpoint with a complete TNG noob, it was obvious to both of us that Wesley is Picard's bastard son.

-Picard is uncomfortable with children. Because he never took responsibility for the one he gave Beverly.

-Despite this discomfort, Picard lets Wesley tour the bridge. He gives in to his desire to reach out to his flesh and blood.

-Picard insists on referring to Wesley as "the boy," both as a way of avoiding attachment, and because that's all he knew about his child for the longest time. "It's a boy."

-Beverly and Picard are obviously close, but Wesley only knows him from when he brought Jack's body home. Why wasn't Picard around after Wesley was born? Guilt over his affair with Beverly, over cuckolding his dear friend.

-Later, the Traveller tells only Picard about how he can sense Wesleys special potential. He doesn't even tell Beverly. Why tell the captain of the ship Wesley currently resides on, of all people? Because the Traveller can also sense that Picard is his father.

-Season 7 when Picard is told he has another son he never recognized or raised as his own, he doesn't seem that surprised.

Oh, and the odds are decent that Rene was his son as well. No one gets that torn up over a dead nephew, and no one gets that angry about getting stuck taking care of a "vineyard" while their brother is off galavanting around the galaxy.

I've never even thought this before, oh my how positively scandalous! I love it! Your idea is totally my headcanon now.

It's just like how I'm so convinced John-Boy is not John Walton's son, but the son of Olivia's old flame who's now a politician (I absolutely forget his name!), because it seems John-Boy would've been conceived when John was fighting in Europe?

Perhaps they should have let Wheaton play the part of young Picard in Rascals or the part of Jason Vigo in Bloodlines and afterwards ever refuse to comment on it, just to add a little fuel and mess with our heads :)

There's no good reason to think he is other than our natural speculation instinct to have main characters have had as much personal history and drama as possible.

Also consider:
-By the time he was in his 40s, Picard had settled down and become the kind of person who'd respect the bonds of marriage and suppress his hedonistic urges.
-If Beverly had any suspicion at all Picard was Wesley's father, Picard would have learned this in Attached, and then it would have been on his mind in Bloodlines and Generations.
-Wesley couldn't have gotten the Shutting Up gene from either Picard or Beverly, must have gotten it from Jack.

First, I must say...this is masterfully crafted and I got a really good laugh out of it...but figured I would provide some responses to the points in case anyone cares...LOL

-Picard is uncomfortable with children. Because he never took responsibility for the one he gave Beverly.

He is uncomfortable with children because he has never had the opportunity to be around them. He has been in a 'military style' environment for many, many years and up until being on the Enterprise none of his other ships had children on them.

-Despite this discomfort, Picard lets Wesley tour the bridge. He gives in to his desire to reach out to his flesh and blood.

This point lends some actual credence to your point, but only in this way. Picard does in fact have a crush on/love Beverly. This fact, and the guilt over his having been in some way connected with Jack Crusher's death move him to allow the fatherless Wesley to tour the bridge, which he was obviously super excited to do. Also, Jack was one of Picard's BFFs (him and Walker Keel), so he would likely have some feelings toward his dead BFFs son.

-Picard insists on referring to Wesley as "the boy," both as a way of avoiding attachment, and because that's all he knew about his child for the longest time. "It's a boy."

This was a way of avoiding emotional attachment, as you stated...but only because of the guilt he felt over Jack's death and his having been secretly in love with his BFFs wife. In "Attached" in the 7th Season, Beverly is completely shocked when she learns (through the mind link) that Picard loved her even back when she was married. If she had an affair with him, this would not be the case. Also, it was a way of his maintaining dominance/control over the bridge and his officers not to show weakness by using Wesley's name...thus showing a familiarity with him that he didn't wish to convey to his subordinates at that time.

-Beverly and Picard are obviously close, but Wesley only knows him from when he brought Jack's body home. Why wasn't Picard around after Wesley was born? Guilt over his affair with Beverly, over cuckolding his dear friend.

Guilt over the death itself. He didn't want to show his face around them and remind them of the pain. He also, likely didn't wish to be reminded of his dead friend.

-Later, the Traveller tells only Picard about how he can sense Wesleys special potential. He doesn't even tell Beverly. Why tell the captain of the ship Wesley currently resides on, of all people? Because the Traveller can also sense that Picard is his father.

I believe he said something to the effect that Picard, as Captain, was in the position to help guide him (like making him acting ensign) without exposing the fact that he was 'special' and possibly causing Wesley to lose his humility or get off track.

-Season 7 when Picard is told he has another son he never recognized or raised as his own, he doesn't seem that surprised.

Yeah, this is because he did in fact have a fling with Miranda Vigo...

Oh, and the odds are decent that Rene was his son as well. No one gets that torn up over a dead nephew, and no one gets that angry about getting stuck taking care of a "vineyard" while their brother is off galavanting around the galaxy.

I could actually see this...he was pretty attached to his brother's wife. And we have much less canonical info about that possibility. However, the rebuttal to his sadness is the fact that the Picard line would not be able to continue. He was always assured that it would even if he didn't have a child. But, with this death, there were no more Picards.

If Beverly had any suspicion at all Picard was Wesley's father, Picard would have learned this in Attached,
Yup. She also confesses in that episode that she hadn't known how deep Picard's feelings for her ran. That suggests a distant pining he had, not a tryst. They never did anything before Wes is born. That much they made clear there

Besides, what would be the point of showing Wes a holodeck program of Jack Crusher in Family, if the long dead man wasn't even his real father? That's just cruel

Wesley was conceived by the midi-chlorians.

"There was no father. I carried him, I gave birth, I raised him. I can't explain what happened." - Beverly Crusher

Oh you are so right of course, but this idea still made me smile!

Wesley is not Picard's son. It would be extremely easy to find out if that were the case or not. And even if Wesley didn't know, Picard and Beverly would, and there'd be no reason for them to not discuss it when Wesley was out of earshot.

Picard knew Wesley was not his son just as assuredly as he knew that Jason Vigo was not his son.

BTW, the wording of your poll is extremely biased toward your pet theory, so I doubt anyone's going to take it seriously.
