Wesley Crusher: Starfleet's Biggest Coward

I grew up with TNG as well. For me, Wesley was a one dimensional and unnecessary character that obstructed things.

Particular scenes that annoyed me are the ones with Picard in the Shuttle before Picard got his heart replacement. Wesley does alot of gushing of this sort throughout his run.

The Wesley episode at the academy in the 5th season was a good episode for him. He was tested with that one. I don't think there was any other episode where he wasn't annoying to one degree or another.

I don't think the child prodigy part of this character fazed me really. The child prodigy thing can work if it's well executed but it wasn't here.

The Enterprise is tucked away safely within the comforting embrace of Starbase. If you're going to give Wesley a crack at being in charge of the bridge in anticipation of his dazzling Starfleet career, here's where you do it. I mean what could go wrong?

Yeah, I mean, the only safer way to give Wesley some duty time would be to have him do it in simulation on the holodeck. OK, bad example there.

In an alternate universe, there was an episode where a belligerent Picard changes his mind, sending Wesley back to Rubicun III.

This episode also won an Emmy for "Best Episode Of Trek, EVER."

I wish I could call that universe "home", but, apparently I'm not young enough for The Traveler.
