Were you a fan of Voyager in the beginning?

But over time not so much?

It happened to me.

How does it happen anyway?

You like a show then not like it as much.

I'm going to have to say that it's not that I've always been a Voyager fan so much as a Janeway fan. ;)

There are some episodes of Voyager that I wish had never happened. In fact, most of season 7 I could live without.

However, when I was watching it in its first run, I really adored the show... all of it. It wasn't until I re-watched it that I realized that it was the show so much that I liked but the characters.

Loved it from Caretaker to Endgame. Yes, some eps I could do without, but that would be expected when you are telling (?) 172 stories. (I could do without the ep from TNG where the ship becomes sentient during the train simulation.)

I was a fan of Voyager & its characters from day one (and had loved TOS & TNG, liked DS9). I didn't like all the episodes (a few I will never even want to mention, lol), but I enjoyed the seven year run. Was, though, upset enough at Endgame that I didn't watch Voyager again until last summer. But, I spent a month then watching almost every episode again and was struck at how well the series had held up, and how enjoyable. So, I'm back to being a big Voyager fan and very glad it exists. GS.

I started out loving Voyager and never lost interest in it, despite some really naff episodes. Season 7 was shaky but it didn't turn me off completely. I enjoyed the "alone out there" factor and that Janeway had to bend or break the rules in order to further their journey home.

I was a Voyager fan even before the end of the pilot episode "Caretaker" had finished airing.

I felt the instant connection to Voyager. It was the same kind of connection that fans of the Star Trek: The Original Series has formed with their series.

Just like fans of Star Trek: The Original Series I do whatever necessary to protect my series, Star Trek: Voyager that I am so fond of (I have been an active part of the "Bring Back Kathryn Janeway" movement & contributed by submitting an original petition letter for that drive to various individuals at Pocket Books, and allowed my letter to be featured on the "Bring Back Kathryn Janeway" website as a form letter that can be used as a alternative to the original more mild & more generic form letter that preceeded mine.)

I always have been & always shall be a Voyager fan. Don’t make the mistake of thinking I am just a Voyager fanboy. I am a lifelong Star Trek fan, and I credit Star Trek: The Orignal Series for that. Star Trek: The Original Series made me a fan, but it was Voyager that I fell in love with. :luvlove:

I didn't like it much in the beginning, perhaps because I was so into DS9 and found Voyager lacking by comparison.

It may have been a mistake to air Voyager so early into DS9's run.

I was blown away by "Scorpion" though and became a fan after that. I've since gotten the whole series on DVD and have watched it straight through several times. I definitely prefer the Seven era to the Kes era though.

I loved it. I thought the pilot episodes were very well done. I think TPTB handled certain aspects of series not as well as they should have (ie the Maquis, the Borg, way too much holodeck), but all in all it was enjoyable. It had some shaky episodes but some that were very interesting as well. I think it is part of the Star Trek lineage as a whole and has a certain place all its own. It had more of an TOS essence than the other series.

I watched the abbreviated first season and the first episode of season 2, when they first aired. I haven't watched since.

Couldn't make it through the first season. But my life was getting busy. I watched most of the series in repeats and enjoyed it more at that point.

I was a fan right from the start (thats the original series when it was shown), and thus Im a total fan of Voyager. Infact I like it more then the other series'

Unfortunately for me, they channel it was on in the Uk, kept moving its alloted time for viewing, and it finally arrived on a Friday night. This caused me to miss a fare few episodes as I had a class that night, luckily I could do a slight catch up in the holiday (NB this was not a normal class so didnt go to term times, it was 13 weeks on 3 weeks of continueally over quite a few years).

I caught random episodes of the show starting from Season Two. I liked most of what I saw, but my schedule prevented me from seeing it every week. I actually liked it more on DVD when I was able to watch it from start to finish.

Big Voyager fan at first, then the writers slowly and painfully reduced me to Robert Beltran--we share the same attitude toward Voyager.

I was a fan from the first episode all the way through. I think it is true to the original vision of Trek in many ways, including the hated reset button and the mini morality plays most episodes deliver.

I recall disengagining from my girlfriends mouth and saying good night because I had reached the utmost time I could afford kissing her before I could fight traffic and still make it home in time to see all of Voyager.

Show me a hint of that much devotion in any of you, and I may no longer feel so singularly betrayed by Voyager.

Has Auntkate read Lost Girls?

Yes, I was!

When TNG started to air in Europe, I had watched two of the TOS movies (I and II) plus some episodes of TOS.

My first impression of TNG was a slight dissapointment, sort of "is that all there is". I had expected something more. But after two-three episodes, I started to warm up to the characters and it didn't take long before I became an ardent TNG fan.

When DS9 started I thought it was sort of "TNG B-team" and even if I did like the characters and the series (unfortunately I haven't seen all episodes due to stupid policy of the station in my home country which had the right to it), it came out as a sort of TNG spinoff which was good, but not as good as TNG.

But Voyager got my attention at once, mainly due to the characters and the premise. I did take an immediate liking to all the characters when I watched "Caretaker", even if it took a little while before I bought the concept of a holographic doctor and the premise was great. "This is the real thing", I thought. They are out there, a mixed Starfllet and Maquis crew and they only have themselves to rely on.

Not to mention that "Caretaker" was such a great pilot episode. While "Encounter At Farpoint" was a bit dull and "Emissary" was a bit confused, "Caretaker" was great. It was exciting from beginning to end and the main character were introduced in a very good way. I remember getting goosebumps when Kim said "We're on the other side of the galaxy". Now the real adventure starts, I thought and I still get the same feeling when I watch the episode many years later.

Later on, there were some great dissapointments with Voyager for me but in some strange way, it has remained a favorite, mainly due to the excellent characters.

I really wish that we could have a continuation of the adventures in the books with all the main characters involved. Unfortunately, the people responsible for the boosk have screwed it up badly. A pity because the Voyager characters are too good to be wasted.

It wasn't broadcast where I live until years later but I was getting people in the U.S. to tape it and DS9 for me and mail it across the ocean. You don't want to know what that cost!

The question is, Guy, have you read Lost Girls? If so, we need your review.

So much devotion to Voyager and so little return--I feel your pain, man.

Voyager got me a lot easier then Emissary or Encounter at Farpoint did mostly because the latter aired when I was 5 and even now I still can't get into TNG until the last half of season 2. I remember really talking about at school I watched DS9 from the get go. Voyager aired in the UK as a highlight of a Star Trek night. I had to go to bed early as I had school the next day. I didn't manage to watch until the following weekend. When I first heared it was going to be set in the Delta Quadrant (me and a mate at school who was also into Star Trek). We would often wonder how the ship was going to survive a encounter with the Borg as we knew the borg lived there. The Kazon and Viidians were a dragged out a bit to much but season 3 it set up a wider delta quadrant then just the Kazon and Viidians
