Another post about the life expectancy of the Enterprise D got me wondering if the Borg cube destroyed and Galaxy Class ships at Wolf 359.
And what about the second Borg cube?
And what about the second Borg cube?
By the time of the Battle of Sector 001, I'm inclined to think all available Galaxy-class ships were involved in the Dominion War and the other ships that participated in the second Borg offensive were ships assigned to the protection of Earth anyway. .
Wasn't there a mention early on in TNG, before "The Best of Both Worlds", that there were only something like six sister ships?
Hanson was supposed to be on a Galaxy Class ship at Wolf 359, but I don't know if that made it to the televised version.
Wasn't that a new Nebula-class ship he was suppose to be on?
Based on the footage from the D.S.9. pilot of all the battles scenes at Wolf 359, I think I see a Nebula class ship and I think I even see an Ambassador class as well.
All we know is that 40 ships in total were sent to the battle, and 39 of them were destroyed. Since the Ahwahnee reappears later in the tachyon grid in "Redemption," it stands to reason that it was the ship that escaped destruction.I don't think we'd be able to get a full list of ships using both shows clips because I suspect not ever ship was there when the cube arrived and some straglers came in during the battle. And there might have even been a last-minute "second wave" waiting out of range of the cube's weapons, that might have come in as the battle was being lost. Just some thoughts.

Although if you want to get technical...the Ahwahnee destroyed at Wolf 359 had the number NCC-73620 (it's on the studio model), whereas the one in "Redemption II" was listed on status displays as NCC-71620.
I've always thought that the ship which survived Wolf 359 was the (Nebula-class) Endeavour, since its captain made logs about his experience fighting the Borg. Bit hard to do if your ship is destroyed and you are dead.
And even if the two Ahwahnees were supposed to be the same ship - Starfleet could simply have recovered the hulk and decided to salvage it later. Thus it could have been destroyed and then later rebuilt.
While the Endeavour was mentioned as having fought the Borg, it wasn't mentioned that the battle was at Wolf 359. If it wasn't there, then it could have certainly escaped and its captain spoken of his exploits later.
