Well it happened to me...

Servo, I just took it to them, it was THEIR responsibility to see if it worked or not. In the past when I traded in my regular XBOX and PS2 they always hooked it up to check it.

I did not say, "It works just fine." therefore I did nothing wrong and I sleep well at night. As a matter of fact, there was a girl working with him and she opened the box and he told her, "There is no need to check it." so how is it my fault? The guy didnt do his job and I got a PS3 because of it.

captjimbojones whenI typed in the serial number on the website it said, "Warranty is expired" and listed the number to call to dispute the warranty. That is why I called the help center to dispute it and the guy gave me the run around.

Justify it however you like.

I dont care to justify it especially since Micorsoft has made MILLIONS from others on their faulty system.

Hate all you want, I am content with my PS3 and I can look myself in the mirror each day and sleep well at night.

Having owned all three current gen consoles for a while now, I'd still say the 360 is the best platform overall DESPITE the RRoD issue.

Also, yeah, how very Christian (tm) of you for trading it in knowing fine well it was fucked. Doesn't matter how explicit the deception was. Dick move, plain and simple.

I dont care to justify it especially since Micorsoft has made MILLIONS from others on their faulty system.

And that's the fault of the people you palmed it off to? Tonnes of fun, is your moral compass.

^ Hey Jim, good to see ya lad.

I dont care to justify it especially since Micorsoft has made MILLIONS from others on their faulty system.

Ah, so according to you, two wrongs do make a right? How very Christian of you.

Hate all you want, I am content with my PS3 and I can look myself in the mirror each day and sleep well at night.

I don't care about you enough to hate, I just think your actions, and your subsequent bragging on here, tell us a lot about your character.

Jim, Deception would have been, "I want to trade this in. It works just fine, no need to check it." I just told the guy, "I want to trade this in along with these games." That it. I am under no obligation to tell him anything further. He could have easily took it out the box and plugged it in and checked it. Like I stated earlier when I traded in older systems they checked them.

Well it is a good thing God forgives, isnt it?

Now when you two come off your "holy than thou" horse think about your life and the things you have done in it. I'm sure you are no better than me and also pick up a Bible and read the part about, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

In terms of making games that are simply fun to play and will endure for years to come, I think Nintendo are the winners this generation.

In terms of making the most of the current technology on offer, I don't think there's any clear winner between Sony and Microsoft. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses, both in the hardware (Microsoft) and in the software (Sony), though each has made improvements in the past year.

I've said before that to make the most of the current generation, it's not necessary to have all three consoles - get a Wii and either a 360 or a PS3.

A lie of omission is still a lie. You gave them a busted console, and they took it off you in good faith. Sure, maybe they should have checked it, but their mistake doesn't absolve you of your responsibility to be honest and not cheat people for your own gain. Isn't that what your Bible teaches? I wonder what Jesus would think of your actions.

Like Jim said; it was a dick move on your part.

Well it is a good thing God forgives, isnt it?

And the moral of the story here kiddies; lie, cheat, do what the fuck you want. It'll all be ok as long as you apologise for it on a Sunday morning.

But all is not lost. I took a chance and traded it in at Gamestop along with all my games. The guy behind the counter didnt even bother to check it to see if it worked or not.

You intentionally decieved them for personal gain. I think your God is gonna take a dim view of that when it's judgement time.

I wonder what God will have to say to the management and executives at Xbox who knowingly charge hundreds of dollars per unit that are bound to fail at a certainty that is not a matter of "if", but "when"?

Judgment should fall on the large and the small alike.

Actually, I'm rather surprised that Gamestop didn't take down Lookingglassman's name, address, SIN number, bank card and DNA sample upon the exchange. Isn't that a standard (minus my obvious exaggerations) when we exchange or sell used gaming equipment and consoles. Kind of like a pawn shop.

^

Is anyone disagreeing that Microsoft have made a shoddy product? No. Is anyone defending that Microsoft continues to wilfully manufacture that shoddy product? No.

Lookingglassman, pretty pathetic response (and "holier than thou" is a bit rich) but whatever. I wish I could justify doing whatever the fuck I liked, safe in the "knowledge" that the supernatural Pol Pot in the sky had my back. I envy that kind of advantageous stupidity.

Well... to each their own I guess.

Actually, had the title of this thread been "Xbox Red Ring of Death Club" instead of something vague, it would be very interesting to see how many people get the RROD and post the news here within the next few days, weeks, months.

Since I bought mine in 2007... I'm pretty sure I'm high in the running for the next RROD'er!

As I alluded to before, two wrongs don't make a right. Microsoft's actions do not justify ripping Gamestop off with a faulty system, in order to get a new PS3.

Chaos - Well microsoft DEFRAUDED me of $400 for a product that lasted two years.

If the product is warranted from two years, that tells me that you are only promised that it will work for two years. "Defrauded" is a tough word to use. Besides the guy you sold it to has nothing to do with Microsoft. I'll give you the fact that he ought to have been on the ball and checked to see if it worked.

The Indian guy named "Ryan" (yeah right)...I asked to speak to an American and of course he told me, "This is a call center in India."

Although this is not impossible or anything like that, I'm skeptical that things went down as you describe. Most Indian call center employees are under strict instruction to NOT reveal where they are located.

I purchased my Xbox 360 Elite on July 13, 2007, so I'm fully expecting it to shit the bed in the near future.

It's so cool to be rude to indian people in call centres. Like, wow, man. I'm so impressed. You're clearly a no nonsense kinda guy. I respect that. Let's have a beer sometime.

Cunt.
