Well, I'll say this for Orci...

Fleet Captain
He is doing his best to shut me up and ease my fears regarding this movie and to come around to his line of thinking.

Did he finally get tired of you stalking him, and decided to respond to your message to get you to shut the fuck up?

Care to explain what you mean by that/

I was about to ask the same of your post. Well, I wasn't, because I don't really care, but then you had to go and provide the perfect opportunity...

Matt has had some dialogue with Robert Orci (one of the writers of the movie) dealing in part, I believe, with the question of whether the story and the movie constitute a reboot of Trek, as a whole. If I read it right, Matt has yet to be fully convinced that the movie is not a reboot, but is expressing some appreciation of the fact that Mr. Orci is taking the time to talk to him about it.

StarMan
, I believe, was making a "hell freezes over" joke which, while it might be somewhat understandable, may not have been entirely helpful in this context.

And where is this discussion taking place ?

And where is this discussion taking place ?
I believe it began over at the donmurphy.net forums, where Mr. Orci is a member. Whether it continued there or moved to another venue, I do not know.

This thread is full of everything but relevant details! :techman:
Those will be up to Matt to provide, as he wishes. For now, I'd guess we can probably assume that talks are ongoing.

Whats the point of this thread if we cant all learn what is going on!?!

In a similar vein I'd like to thank Ms. Saldana for taking the time to personally reassure me of her... credentials.... for the upcoming film.

Mr. Orci gave me some examples from past Treks which give some precedence( I don't know if I spelled that right) for what is happening with this movie.
Here is his exact post to me:

Did you see the TNG episode "Yesterday's Enterprise?" Or Star Trek iV? Was Tasha coming back to life, or the theft of whales a canon violation?

And he's got a point. I can think of several other episodes in the Trek canon where the timeline is altered in some way.
I'm not entirely convinced to part with $8.50, but I will say that I'm a little less hellbent against this movie. I'll need to hear more about it.

I sent him a reply asking if we'll get an explanation on why the Enterprise looks different. I wasn't looking for spoilers, just a simple yes or no question.
