We'll Always Have Paris

GulBahana

Commander
Red Shirt
I haven't watched this episode in years. I first saw it as a teenager and found it boring. It's interesting considering what would happen later in the series. Crusher getting jealous when a lover from Picard's past comes on board. It also gives insight into Picard's character showing he's somewhat conflicted about his past.

Picard is very conflicted about his past.
He is visibly shaken when his old girlfriend shows up as the scientist's wife.
He seems nervous about talking to her.
He even goes to the redevous in Paris and talks to the hologram hottie with the odd dress about his own fears.

But Beverly is ALWAYS pissed if she thinks he is even LOOKING at another woman.
Like Vash, and LT Darryl; (the chick that played the piano) the Girl that came inside the cocoon, that was to be married to that old, ugly, creepy guy.

However, I only watch We'll Always Have Paris episode for the fencing scene!

I didn't like this one when it premiered and I was in 7th grade. On a recent re-watch, I found it to be very entertaining. One of the hidden gems from Season 1.

I remember this episode as being so promising, and building to a bunch of interesting things, especially by the juvenile standards of the first season. But then the time warp thingy fractures and the writer's strike hits and suddenly everybody's ad-libbing a bunch of technobabble. It could have been worse, but the episode ended on this damp squib after a bunch of good buildup.

It's interesting looking back on how Picard and Crusher had the hots for each other for years but were so afraid to take that next step. Maybe they wanted to wait until they no longer worked together.

But 7 YEARs???!!!
That's toooooo long!

Picard was ready to get down in Attached but Beverly had cold feet, "Perhaps we should be afraid..."

I have a soft spot for We'll Always Have Paris. The actress was very good and this was TNG doing a romantic drama that I didn't find boring. Also, the science fiction plot helped it not be dull.

I also have a soft spot for this episode, due to my Data-bias. The elevator scene "They are also us." and the "I am a machine and dispensable" chat, and then 3 Datas in the time effect.

This is my favourite TNG episode, 1st Season and amongst my favourite of the franchise. It's multi-layered with some very interesting visual effects, a soundtrack that's also quite atmospheric and unique, as well as excellent guest stars. I can't say enough good about this episode.
