Okay, guys....

I gotta get some other opinions here....

Tonight, Coaster and I watched ENT's latest episode (we'd TiVo'd it), In a Mirror, Darkly.

Our opinion, basically, is that it was a steaming pile of crapola. We laughed most of the way thru it - laughing AT it, not WITH it, unfortunately. "Stupid" just does not *begin* to do this episode descriptive justice.

And yet...when we just went to the ENT grading thread, that thread was filled with A+'s.

Did we see the same episode as everyone else? Did you guys see this thing??? And if you did, did you not think The Emperor's New Cloak was a creative MASTERPIECE, by comparison????

Please, tell me we are not going nuts here!!!!

Our reviews can be found HERE.

This was the first episode this season I've seen. If you want my opinion, go to this thread . :)

Vash, Vash, Vash... you don't spend much time in Ent, do you? If you did, you would know that every episode is filled with A+'s. Doesn't matter how good or bad it is. Just as you could count on Stewey to give every ep an F, you can count on nearly everyone else in the forum to give it an A+.

The episode was entertaining (title sequence was interesting), but that's about it. I gave it a 5 or 6 on the TrekToday news poll. I rarely venture into the Ent forum, so I haven't graded it there yet.

[edit]
BTW, if there was an A++++++++++++ option, lots of Enterprise episodes would have that.

It was kind of fun, better than the majority of Enterprise shows. I gave it a B+. It was at least 5 times more enjoyable than Emperor's New Cloak.

Humm....

See, we just thought it was dumb.

Although it did yield us a new name for Hoshi: "Ho - she".

Some pretty poor dialogue, a lame-ass excuse for the timeline being off-kilter, and piss-poor CGI on the Tholian. B5 had better CGI, 10 years ago with a fraction of the budget!

Oh well...If some of you guys like it, then it must not be *that* bad.

Maybe it just struck us wrong. *shrugs*

Interested to see what you think, BigFoot!

^
Oh, don't get me wrong. It was dumb. But I went with it. As much as Enterprise has improved in the past two years... It's still very medicore.

Sin City was fantastic.

I went in not knowing a thing about the movie or even what to expect from it.

But it was good.

This summer should be pretty good for going to the theatres.

Harry Potter, Batman Begins, Hitchhiker's, and of course SW EPIII....

^(TED) See, for me, I was much encouraged by the improvement in ENT this year. But last week's ep and this week's ep were just stupid, if you ask *us*.

Good to see you, RobotechMaster! ;)

Well, me and my g/f (who usually never watches the show) watched the ep earlier tonight. Well... the ep was definately dumb, and I agree that the CGI tholian sucked. But still... the ep did have a bit of a campy fun to it. At least it felt like they were trying to entertain us, which cannot be said for most of the first three seasons of the show. So yeah, I definately prefer Emperor's new Cloak (I'll take mirror Ezri over mirror T'Pol or mirror Hoshi (or Ho-she :D) any day), but I do have to admit that I was actually entertained by the ep (I quite liked the opening credits, lol).

I do also have to say that it was nice to see them pick up the thread about the (original) Defiant from TOS. Even though one of the SCE books did it first. :D

Yeah, I thought that last week's ep was absolutely dreadful.

I don't think I mentioned that I recently picked up the B5 movies set. Well, I did, and I just started watching it last night. Thoughts that I also posted in SFF:

Watched "The Gathering" last night. It was okay. It seemed a bit rough, but I guess that's what you get out of the pilot movie/episode. :p

Just finished watching "In the Beginning".

Holy crap, that was an awesome movie! :D  :D The battle scenes were very well done and it filled in a big part in the B5 story. It was rather interesting seeing where everyone I came to know through the series was during the war. Very good movie indeed.

:D

Oh, and a side question: why is "The Legend of the Rangers" not in the set?

"In The Beginning" is pretty good, isn't it? :D My only problem with it is the fact that (almost) everyone had met before they all got together on the station, which I find rather odd and rather convenient...but it's so good that ends up being only a minor quibble.

Still don't know about the LotR thing. :D

I came [-] <--<< this close to letting the TiVo record the latest Enterprise episode, which would've made it the first one I've watched in over three years. Now that I'm hearing this, though, I'm kinda glad I didn't (it conflicted with one of my wife's recordings).

I was away this weekend, but I'll watch the ep soon. I saw the preview (<span class="spoiler"><font class="small">Spoiler:</font><hr /><span>Ho - she in bed with Archer</span><hr /></span>), so I didn't have high expectations. We'll see.

I've been busy with school and today I finally went to go see Sin City. That movie was great, even though I think they overdid it with the violence. <span class="spoiler"><font class="small">Spoiler:</font><hr /><span>I think they found every dispicable way possible to kill someone. </span><hr /></span>. Other than that, it was a great movie, and great Film Noir.
Glad you liked most of it anyway. Just about the entire movie, including all the violence, was lifted directly from the pages of Frank Miller's graphic novel series. And when I say "graphic", I mean GRAPHIC! Funny thing is, it was the sex that was toned down considering. Nancy Callahan (Jessica Alba) and Miho (Devon Aoki) were less clothed in the comic ;) It's as faithful a rendition as I've seen of a comic-based movie, and I thought they did an excellent job. I probably won't be showing this one to momma (she loves Blade), but it was good.

well I'm back (as if you noticed). I thought IaMD was pretty fun, if just mindless fun. I liked the Tholian, and the opening credits are great, but i really hope deamons and terra prime pick up the pace or i'm gunna call ENT season 4 a great half-season.

Hey guys,

I caught the Serenity trailer today and even though I wasn't really a fan of Firefly (I thought it was pretty good, but I wasn't as gitty as most of this board was over it :D ), but I thought that trailer was really cool. I think it might be better than the Star Wars trailer, and it might have made me get onto blockbuster online and ask for Firefly: The Series to be mailed out. I think next to Babylon 5, I will see all of Firefly again before the movie came out. I never did get to see Serenity the episode.

It's a good series (though I'm not as crazy-nuts over it as alot of folks around here either) and I really hope you enjoy it!

I'm looking forward to the film! :)
