Byron blows. Big time.

As for BSG, I thought it was great. It was gritty and I liked it that way. I think the payoff for this show is going to come over time rather than single episode chunks. I don't necessarily want to be depressed, but I hate when things are tied up all nice and neat all the time. I love TNG, but that's one thing that annoys me about it sometimes. Nearly everything got tied up nice and neat all the time. If BSG goes the way of things being tough and sometimes depressing, well that's kind of the situation those people are in. It's not the kind of situation where everybody just smiles and pats each other on the back every ep.

Byron, boy, I love to hate that guy. He's gotta be the bane of my existance. And his voice!! Makes me wanna cringe!

...um, who's he again??? :p

Dangit, I missed BSG! I meant to record it cause I knew I wouldn't be home. Aw man. At least with sci-fi, things usually repeat umpteenth amount of times, right? When's it reruning?

I missed ENT too. Didn't even realize it was a new ep tonight. Those bastards @ upn sure aren't letting go of any advertising dollars on it.

I got the Farscape Peacekeeper Wars on DVD today, and I've already watched. :D I enjoyed it about as much as when I first saw it (which means I absolutely loved it, lol). Did anyone else pick this up today (or plans to in the near future)?

You can have a show where not all things are tied up, yet the show is not depressing. I think that is why Farscape and DS9 are my two favorite shows of all time. They found a balence of doing episodic and arcs, and they tried to strike all emotions. I actually found both shows to be really uplifting, even though they dealt with gritty tones.

You missed all of the airings of BSG. It was on Sunday (The entire thing) and yesterday. (The first two episodes) Scifi really has played it a lot.

However, on the plus side, you WILL finally be meeting perhaps the most hated character in all of B5 - Bryon.

Horrible character. Just horrible.
Shouldn't y'all have let Steven meet the delightful Byron all by himself? :p :D

Having said that... If there's ever been a more completely loathsome character in TV - not just SF - I'm glad I have no idea who it is. He's just a complete and utter abomination. (I'd tell you what I really think but...well... :D)

Yes...we will be buying this - probably this evening. We also will be buying the BSG mini. Never have picked that up and need to.

BTW, do you know how PKW did on SciFi???

Any chance at all we will get more Farscape out of this?

I rarely go in the SFF forum. Too doggone crowded for me anymore.

^ The PK mini did pretty good, nothing special though. So I think that whether we get more Farscape or not might depend on DVD sales of the mini, and maybe even the Starburst Editions.

What is it with this thread? Sometimes I can be really lively, and sometimes it's just dead for a couple of days. :)

Anyway...I made a bit of a blind buy today. I got Ghost in the Shell Standalone Comples Volume 1 today. I liked the first Ghost in the Shell movie, and I've heard good thing about Standalone Comples, so I decided to get it. I haven't watched any of it yet.

So has anyone seen any of it? I'm just curious what people think about it. No spoilers please. :)

Hey guys...just a note to the folks in this thread, since you are mainly "regulars" in the forum.

I'm going on vacation in a couple of hours and will be gone until next Wednesday. Jammer is gonna be around...and when he's not, go ahead and contact Aatrek if you need anything. He's agreed to follow-up as well.

Hope you guys have a nice weekend! :)

Jammer's coming back? Cool.

Have a fun and safe trip Vash.

^ Have fun Vash! :) And don't worry, we'll be good while you're away.

Yeah, sure we will

Have fun Vash!!

BigFoot, I think it's cause this spot is mainly being frequented by a few regulars who just feel like dropping a line in. Maybe if we could continue to think of some varying subject that'll keep interest for a while, it'll improve posting. I'm not creative enough to think of anything tho :p

I saw the BSG ep, "Water" (they gave me one more chance, tomalak301 :D). Good ep, though I wish I'd seen what came before that. I'm a little confused right now, but it wasn't too bad. Definitely good enough for me to want to tune back in. And my VCR is ready for tonight's ep.

OK, one point of confusion. Who is that blonde bombshell who keeps showing up in the scientist's view but nobody else's? A memory? A ghost? I read on scifi.com that Spoiler:
she is or might be a Cylon in disguise
. Any insight from prior eps?

Yeah, Water was a great episode. The person who Dr. Gius can see but others can't Spoiler:
is a Cylon. Her name is Number 6. In the mini-series, Number 6 implanted a chip into the doctors head so he can see her. There are still Cylon robots, but they have advanced to take human form
. I hope this helps. :)

I'm really looking foward to tonights episode. I had mixed feelings about the shows last week, but given the fact that it's so critically acclaimed, I think this week is going to be the deciding factor of if I like the series or think it's vastly overrated. Also, I heard the orginal Apollo is supposed to guest star, so that ought to be fun.

Well, last week I had mixed feelings about the show. I felt that it was a bit dull, depressing, and for a two hour premiere, it was underwhelming. I said that I would make up my mind tonight if I was a fan and really see why this show is citically acclaimed.

Well, I'm happy to say hell yeah I'm a fan of this show. Tonights episode was great, both in character building, poignancy, and pacing. I had only seen some of the original, so seeing Richard hatch (To tell you the truth, when I first heard about Richerd Hatch in terms of BSG, I thought everyone was talking about the first Survivor winner. :D ) didn't matter because I was neutral. He was great as Zarak. That final scene between Roslin and Apollo was probably the best part. So quiet, and poignant. I am really looking foward to next week.

One last thing and it has to do with Starbuck. Reading some of the comments about her from others, she kind of reminds me of Jadzia Dax. In DS9, many fans consider Dax to be the show's weakest link, but I loved her because she had spunk, humor, and she was ambitious. I think I'm starting to have the same reaction to Starbuck. She is great, and the chemestry between her and Colonial is superb. Spoiler:
I loved the scene in the ready room.

Spoiler:
I think if there was one thing I didn't like, it was the short scene between Helo and Boomber, and the Cylons. It was good to check in on them, but they seemed forgotten later in the series, and the Cylon's comments about parents needing to be killed off so the child can grow was interesting. Is there an episode that deals with this in more detail later? That one scene was so short, but it was interesting.

Also, something has been bugging me since the mini-series. What is the cheifs full name?

Grade: A-

Hey guys, I have a question. On the B5 Lurker's Guide Episode List (here), they have the following episodes in this order:

03/08/14 93 506 Learning Curve
03/08/15 94 507 Strange Relations
03/08/18 95 508 Secrets of the Soul
03/08/19 97 509 In the Kingdom of the Blind

03/08/20 98 510 A Tragedy of Telepaths
03/08/21 99 512 Phoenix Rising
03/08/22 96 511 Day of the Dead
03/08/25 100 513 The Ragged Edge

But on my DVD set, they have

(Disc 2)
Learning Curve
Strange Relations
Secrets of the Soul
Day of the Dead

(Disc 3)
In the Kingdom of the Blind
A Tragedy of Telepaths
Phoenix Rising
The Ragged Edge

They put "Day of the Dead" forward a few episodes on the DVDs compared to the Episode List. Is this like this on everyone else's set too? Which is the "right" way?

^ You know, I'm not sure if there's even any big diff between the two viewing orders. It might be just like the first 6 (or so) eps of Farscape, where the viewing order doesn't really matter (except for the pilot of course).
Either way, I'd go with the DVD order. :)

Anyway...this thread seems a bit dead again, so hopefully I can revive it lol. :) What's everyone been up to? I've been really busy with school. We've got a ton of labs and assignments to do every week.

I finally got the two new Deep Space Nine Relaunch novels today (Worlds of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Vol 1 & 2). :D I'm gonna start those tomorrow. :D I also got Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, which I enjoyed in the theatre. I watched it last night again, and I still really liked it. And I also got Farscape Starburst Edition vol 2, and the BSG mini yesterday in the mail.

So yeah, it's been a pretty fun week, I just wish I had some more free time. The cool thing is, that the way my schedules works out is that I have no classes on fridays, so I get a long weekend every week. :D So hopefully I'll have some more free time over the weekend. :D

Anyway, I should go to bed. Now someone else post something in here! ;)

Hi guys!

Back from vacation! :)

Coaster and I (and his daughter) had a wonderful time at Disney over the past several days. However, I am *totally* exhausted, and would love to be able to sleep for about 3 days as right now, I feel like I've been run over by a truck.

I guess that's a good vacation though!

Hope everything has been going well around here. I'll be catching up some today and will be back fully tomorrow.

Steven...does JMS say anything in the season 5 booklet about episode order of those B5 episodes? Maybe the order got changed for a reason. I don't know....

It might be like DS9, where production order is sometimes different from viewing order. Don't know....

On the DS9 DVDs, they were smart enough to put the thing in the proper viewing order. Hopefully, they did the same in the B5 DVDs. I've not watched my season 5 set yet - we are still back at the end of the season 4 set. But I'm hoping they put the episodes in the order they were meant to be viewed in. Given JMS's involvement in the DVDs, that would be my guess.

Hope you are enjoying them! :)

Welcome back Vash! :) I'm glad you had a good time. And IMO there's two kinda of vacations (well, there's another one, which I don't like lol):
- you got somewhere and just chill for like a week. Go swimming, drink cocktails and stuff like that. Afterwards you're relaxed, fresh, and rested.
- you go somewhere (i.e. Disneyland) and just have fun. Now, while you might not get the rest, you do get the relaxation and the vacation is still great. :)

Anyway, it's good to have you back. Things around here have been fairy low-key, so you haven't really missed much. :)
