So, has the series aired yet? How come it sounds like some of you have already seen it (know what's in the sereis) and some are waiting for it to come out?

It's airing in the UK. It starts tonight in the US on Sci-fi.

^ From what I understand (I've never actually seen the original), it's more of a re-invention. They've changed some things (Starbuck and Boomer are women for instance). It's definately not a spin-off. :)

I've seen the original, and yeah, "re-invention" would be an accurate word.

And IMO, a re-invention for the good. :)

Well, I just got back from Elektra. What to say...it could have been a lot better. Rob Bowman is one of the worst directors ever, he's sort of on part with Paul W.S. Anderson. He put WAY to many slow-mo shows in the film. The editing was pretty crappy too. I don't know, maybe it's just my brain being slow but I usually can't really tell what's going on if there's a cut every 10th of a second.
The script itself could have been a lot better too, especially the dialog itself which was very hokey at times. It did have it's moments though.

Still, I did actually enjoy the movie, I just think it had more potential. Jennifer Garner was good as usual. Terrence Stamp stole every scene he was in. That guy is just great. And Kirsten Prout (she played Abby, the 13-year old kid) was awesome. That kid has some serious talent. :)

The action itself was pretty good too, at least the parts that were more down to earth. Again, it could have been a lot better with better editing, and less CGI.

Overall it was a fun flick, with a lot more potential. Jennifer didn't really have the opportunity to show off her acting talent either. I'll probably end up getting the movie on DVD. Like I said, it was still a fun film and my g/f really liked it. :)

EDIT: Oh yeah, they showed the Fantastic Four trailer and it definately looks like fun. :)

I just saw The Aviator and I have to say that I loved it. As much as I usually cannot stand Leo DeCaprio, he was amazing in this movie. The rest of the cast was awesome too, especially Cate Blanchett as Audrey Hepburn.
The movie itself was great too. I just really liked the whole story and well, Martin Scorses is one helluva director.
One other thing. If you think Kate Beckinsale looked hot in Underworld, you need to see The Aviator. I heard she to put on some weight for the movie (she played Ava Gardner btw), and wow she looked absolutely amazing. :)

Anyway... I definately plan to get this on DVD, even though it's the kind of a movie you wouldn't watch to often.

Well, so what does everyone think of BSG???

We just watched the two episodes from Friday night, and I think they were pretty good!!! Yay for Ron Moore!!!!!!

I think that show is gonna come out quite well! They were alot better than the ENT episode from Friday, that's for sure.

But I have a question - more about the SG-1 coming attractions than anything. How come Michael Shanks isn't in the trailers for SG-1???

Anyone know? I thought he was coming back again...

^ To my knowledge Michael Shanks will be in at least the rest of season 8 of SG-1, probably also in S9.

And as I've stated before, I really love the new BSG series. It was good from the first ep on, and it's just getting better. :)

^ Well, that's what I thought.

I wonder why he wasn't in the trailer then?

I mean, they showed a pic of SG-1, and it was a pic of only the other 3.

^ Well I haven't seen the trailers myself, so I can't really give an opinion about them. But I did just go to http://www.scifi.com/stargate/ and there's two big pics of Michael Shanks right there, on the first page. So I don't think there's anything us fans should worry about. Maybe he's just not featured that much in the next ep or something like that.

^ Okay - good! :)

I'm super greedy, I guess. Gotta have Michael Shanks AND Ben Browder in my Stargate!

^ The second half of the season is great. But all of the telepath war stuff at the beginning of the season sucks.

After Byron makes his...erm....exit....it's all uphill from there! :)

However, on the plus side, you WILL finally be meeting perhaps the most hated character in all of B5 - Bryon.

Horrible character. Just horrible.

I'm gonna go even further and say he's my most hated character ever, period. I find him more annoying then Neelix and Kim Bauer put together. Man, what was JMS thinking.

I saw them as well, and they were pretty good. I have two minor qualms though. One, the show is too slow at times. There were some scenes that felt really dull and boring. The other thing was I think Moore is trying to make the show way too realistic to the point where it just comes out depressing. I know this show was ment to be gritty and the theme of it should be that of a darker tone, but you make the show too depressing and it's not worth watching. I keep on hearing the same thing over and over that this is supposed to be an adult show. I guess this means adults want to be depressed and still enjoy the show? Um'kay.

As for the good stuff, I like these characters more than I like those on Enterprise. Olmos is great as Adama, and my favorite character is Starbuck. She's the only one to provide some comic relief, and darn she's attractive. :p

I will continue to watch of course but I think the show could be better.

Whoa... Kim Bauer AND Neelix?!

Oh yes...easily.

Byron is by far my least favorite character in all of scifi.

He's the biggest whiner going, and I hate him, and that whole storyline associated with him. And my hatred is not just confined to him in a vacuum. What their association with him did to *another* character on the show really makes me hate him more.

I also really hate what JMS does with another, unrelated character during this period. BigFoot will probably know which one I mean...but one of the characters goes down a road that is totally against what they'd been about all along, and it pisses me off.

Bottom line - the beginning of season 5 is the worst section of B5.

However, the good news is that the ending is great. And Sleeping in the Light is one of the most beautiful and emotionally charged episodes in scifi. :)

Yeah same here. I just cannot stand the guy. At least Neelix was a bit funny from time to time, and at least Kim Bauer is hot. :D

Yeah, I totally agree. I did NOT like what they did with that character.

Again, I agree. B5 gets good again in the second half of S5 (don't get me wrong, even the first half isn't that bad, it's just not as good as the rest of the show) and Sleeping in the Light is one of the best series finales ever.
