Now, the producers of Army of Darkness are the same as Hercules and Xena. Army of Darkness is basically a template for the style of storytelling, action and so on of the Hercules and Xena shows. Not being a fan of that over the top cheese, I don't enjoy Army of Darkness a lot.
Yep, that's why I didn't like Army of Darkness either (or those shows you mentioned). WAY TOO CHEESY! I can work with some tounge-in-cheek fun, but they were more than I felt like seeing ever again.

But I do want to see the cheesy action & sex in Team America

Well, I saw Saw after all. Not as gory as I thought it'd be (I mean, if all those tortures were shown in exquisite detail, it would be horrific). But it was rather haunting. Think Seven style - a lot of hinted-at horror and scenes that build up in shocking ways. Extremely surprising end  But the movie was also kinda... funny ;) I saw it fairly full theatre, and many of us laughed out loud at some of the dialog and scenes. It was an impressive flick. I doubt I'll watch it again though (same with Seven).

^I missed seeing Saw this weekend, so I might try to see it today. If there are some cheesy scenes that an audience would laugh at, maybe I'll be better off going to an earlier show where there's fewer people. If I see it, I'll report in. :)

As for the gore, I'm sure an unrated DVD is in the works (what movie doesn't get one these days?), so maybe there'll be more then.

Well guys...for our Halloween films, coaster had me watch Poltergeist and The Lost Boys. Both were okay....I like Jo Beth Williams and I love Kiefer Sutherland, so those were definite plusses.

I wasn't as scared as I thought I'd be, which was good. I've never considered myself to be 'good' at horror movies!

Poltergeist is one of my all-time faves. The clown, the tree, the steak, the mirror scene, the chairs...gotta love it! :D

It doesn't outright scare me like some movies do, but it always manages to give me the creeps.

Well I had a lot of fun last night. :D A friend of mine makes this huge deal at Halloween every year. This year, she turned her front yard into a graveyard. She had three fresh graves, a ton of tombstones, a dead body hanging from a tree, and a ton of other 'creepy' stuff. :D Another friend of mine dressed up as death and man did we scare the shit out of a ton of kids. :D

We also watch like...5 episodes of Greg the Bunny. I've never heard of the show until about 4 days ago. But hey, with Seth Green, Eugene Levy and Sarah Silverman, the show's gotta be interesting (even though I don't perticulary like muppets).
But yeah, I have to say that the show is hilarious. :D At the cheap price ($24.99 CDN) I might actually get it on DVD. So has anyone else seen the show? I checked out tvtome, and they only filmed about 14 eps (only 12 or so actually aired).

I saw the first 4 or 5 episodes when they originally aired, and I admit I got quite a few laughs out of the show! The Dracula puppet was probably my favorite character; I loved how he'd randomly insert a "blah" into his sentences. :D

^ Yeah, Blah is great. :D I loved the ep Spoiler:
where he slept with Warren's wife.
:D

The scenes really weren't cheesy, more like dialog or situations born out of nervousness, ill at ease with what's going on around you. I wasn't disturbed by the laughing, and I tend to prefer going to movies when there's less crowd to disturb things. I think it got people quite engrossed, the noise level went down considerably after the movie started.

Vash, sounds like you had a fun Halloween night. I guess it helps when you have someone to help you through the scarier moments ;)

You should have seen Vash scream when the clown attacked the kid in Poltergeist. "Aaaaaccckk!!!!"

She somehow made it through those two flicks. Next week, the Evil Dead trilogy and Re-Animator. Just gory enough for her to be ill watching them. :D

I just got back from Saw, and was pretty satisfied by it. There were definitely some interesting twists and reveals, though the killer's motivations were a trifle iffy. Danny Glover's acting was a little "off" to me; I guess he's getting too old for this shit. ;) And Tobin Bell's voicework was very creepy; even moreso than Kiefer Sutherland's in Phone Booth. :)

Despite its flaws, it's still a heck of a lot more interesting than a lot of the thrillers bigger studios crank out. ***1/2/*****

Please add Braindead to that list.

Well I got my package from amazon.com today. :D And the cool thing is, I didn't even have to pay taxes and all that stuff. So that whole deal was really really cheap. I also got The O.C. S1 on DVD a couple of days ago, so me and my g/f watched the pilot today. She liked the show (yay) so we're gonna watch more tomorrow. :D

I have the first four episodes of B5 now... perhaps I should stop watching Season 5 on cable till I catch up...

*happy dance*

Kanar please, kev - and have you got any spoo?

Yeah...that was pretty doggone scary!

But I'm not a clown fan in any event! Clowns always freak me out - and this one didn't help matters!

I think that would be a good idea. :)

I was thinking maybe a dose of Dead Alive, too. Not all at once. I don't want her to curl up and miss the movie. Better to dole out the gore and disgusting stuff in smaller doses so she can absorb it all. ;)
