Welcome...to The Apocalypse Bar 'n' Grill

Thanks for the welcome kev...I'm sure that I will have a great time here...I can't imagine a better Trek than DS9, ;).

Thanks for the heads-up on the thread...I'll have to check that out soon when I'm on another study break, :). Ah...the one thing I'll say about B5 is that its special effects are nothing compared to Star Trek since they're all early CG...but then ask me if this affects my enjoyment of the show. Heck no! I love it for the plot and characters, not just for nice special effects...it is the same reason that I love DS9...for the wide range of characters and the depth we saw into their lives...I love the fact that Rom, Nog, Wynn, Dukat, Garak, and others stayed around for the entire run of the series without being in the title credits...the ensamble cast is one of the big reasons I love DS9. You definately should tune in again someday kevsthaman (I just realized that your SN is Kev's the man [essentially] and not a mock of a flower or anything, chrysanthemum like...), and the DVD sets are cheaper than Star Trek, eh? :D

Nah, I'm not that clever  It means literally what you said. But in a modest way, of course.

Vash has promised me a B5 marathon weekend. I'm gonna take her up on that one day. In strictly a brotherly/sisterly way, so no need for big burly men looking over my shoulder (he knows who he is ;)).

Awesome kev...you'll have to tell us how it goes...

So is there anything besides the B5 discussion in the bar right now? Or can I order a raktajino?

You two really need to have that B5 marathon sometime, so that way you can see how great B5 really is. :) And we ALL know who you're talking about. :D

There's always little things that people talk about in here. We don't really have a central topic. It's just a great place for people to hang out in and talk about ANYTHING they want.

Oh yeah, I was wondering one thing. Vash, Kev, Monty, anyone else, are we doing LOTR themed avs around december 14th this year? :)

You know now that I'm hosting my own avatar if I can find the right picture I think I'd go along with special avatar changes like this...:D Heck LotR is one of my favourite worlds...I'd love to be in on this if it happens...

^ You're more then welcome to participate. :) We actually had a ton of avatar themes last year. We did LOTR twice (when TTT EE came out on DVD and when LOTR FOTR came out in the theatres), we did X-Men when X-2 came out on DVD, we did The Matrix a couple of times, we did Firefly, some of us were doing DS9 all the time, and I'm sure there's others that I've neglected to mention. :)

Sounds good to me! From what I've seen of December's movie lineup, there isn't going to be much else for my av to salute. Now, what LOTR-related thing could I do to O'Brien...hmm...

^ Well there's a couple of good DVDs coming out in december: I Robot, King Arthur, Top Gun SE and of course ROTK EE. :)

Monty, WHAT is your avatar about right now? Man, that's creepy!

Don't read the following if you don't want to know anything about the movie, but there's nothing here that hasn't been in the trailers, though.

It deals with the movie Saw. It's apparently about this demented guy that kidnaps people, and puts them in situations that force them to do terrible things if they want to survive. In one of the trailers, this woman awakens to find this helmet/mask on her face (which is in the av) and a man lying on the floor nearby. A TV monitor is nearby, and a dummy/puppet appears on it (also in the av), telling her that the device is wired into her jaws. He then tells her that if she cannot find the key located INSIDE her dead cellmate, the mechanical jaws will spring open...forcing her jaws to do the same thing *shiver*. In the trailer, as she's preparing to cut the guy open, we see that HE'S NOT DEAD... That's only one situation in this movie, from what I understand.

Pretty sick, yeah, and I can't wait to see this movie! :D

* ...sneaks behind B5's bar. Ignores the odd-colored bottles and pulls out an old raktajino machine... begins brewing *

Here ya go man, one raktajino! Since this ain't my place anymore, don't tell the management :D

So the occasion is the release of ROTK on DVD? Hey, I'm up for it!

Monty, creepily cool av! I'm debating whether I want to see Saw. It's demented on a level like Seven, which I liked but didn't really want to see again. Not out of fear, just not something I revel in. But I'm kinda curious as to how weird it'll be.

The reviews haven't been too bad for it so far; it's certainly faring better than The Grudge. It has a 68% or so on RottenTomatoes and a 7.6 average on IMDB.com. A lot of the reviews I've read say the acting is pretty poor, but it does well with atmosphere and suspense.

Sounds like the perfect movie to open two days before Halloween! :)

Morning all, or whatever time it is in your corner of the space-time continuum...

I've recently got back in contact with a very old friend I first met seventeen years ago, and he's promised to lend me his B5 DVDs, so I shall probably be reviving that conversation soon if you aren't all bored witless with it. Very excited!

kev, while you're there can you get me some hot fish juice, please?

*** gets the Card her drink ***

That's excellent news, BlackDog. :D I know I'm always prepared to talk about/earbash people about B5, so at least one person will listen. :D

*** fills a few other orders *** - even though this is a self-serve bar with ironclad security. ;)

*hugs Evil Sean*

Don't worry, babe, I won't have them for a while yet... how you doing anyway? I've been missing you...

SB - Looking forward to it immensely... :D

Hi guys!

Greetings from Chicago! :)

Right now, coaster and I are up in Chicago meeting up with the Chicago BBS folks and having a very nice weekend! :)

As for the issue of avatars, I'm for *any* avatar thing you guys wanna do. LOTR sounds great! And I'm hoping BigFoot will make me something for Halloween with Spike! ;)

I'll try to check in later today....but now I'm off to the Museum of Science and Industry. :D
