/\ It's because they filmed it in Kiwi-land. :p
Whatever you reckon, Steven. :p And I can manage with the kicking thing, thanks, BigFoot. :D

I just never got around to LotR for some reason. There's nothing specific; it just didn't happen. But the opportunity presented itself and I grabbed it. ;)

*** resists temptation to comment on the Orlando cove *** :D

No worries, mate.

It wasn't until January 2003 that I actually got round to reading "The Lord Of The Rings", which I had bought years ago and still hadn't gotten round to opening it. I'd finished "Fellowship" and was in the middle of "Towers" when I found that the first of the films was on the pay-per-view movie channel. I saw it, enjoyed what they did with it, then finished reading the books and got around to watching the other two films while they were in the cinema.

I've now lost my copy of LOTR. I think I lent it to my sister...

I read the books ages ago - I remember enough to know what happens. I just never got around to the movies.

That's all changed now, though. ;)

Oh yeah, nice av Big Foot! I saw that poster in the theatre this weekend, and it's quite nice  I'm actually starting to look forward to more Jennifer Garner as Elektra.
Thanx! :) And yeah, I'm really looking forward to the movie. I've seen a couple of clips from it online and it looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.

Okie dokie, I'm just trying to be helpful. :D

True - if there was one Oscar ROTK didn't deserve to win it was for "Best Editing".

Yep. I agree 100%. It was a great triad of films - of that there is no doubt. But ROTK simply did *not* deserve the Oscar for "Best Editing". In fact, it was some of the *worst* editing done the entire year!

coaster and I watched some more Lost last night. It's okay so far...but not anything we will stay home just to watch or anything. We still have a few more episodes TiVo'd...and we will continue to watch for a while...but so far, neither of us can bring ourselves to really care about any of the characters. *sigh*
What is it about Lost you don't like? I'm not a fan at all either, I don't find it as engaging as I had hoped. It's way too caught up in being just plain weird and cryptic. It'd be like every episode of Babylon 5 revolving around Kosh. And the characters aren't terribly interesting to me either... Don't get me wrong, they're okay but there's no one like a Jack Bauer or Fox Mulder character that you can immediately take a strong liking to and get emotionally attached to.

So far, I agree with you 100%, TED. I think they have unnecessarily belabored the cryptic aspect...to the point where the show is just not grabbing me because there is no way to work it out or make even a guess as to what's going on.

And no...there is not a single character I care about much at all so far. And none that even *approaches* Mulder, Scully, or Jack Bauer! The doctor guy is okay...and the Iraqi guy is good (he acted in The English Patient, so I like him! ), but other than that, I don't care much about the other characters. And some, I actively dislike - the whiny blond girl, as one example.

Anyway...we are gonna keep watching and give it a chance...but I have to admit that at this point, we are a smidge underwhelmed.

^
I may have to swallow my own words in regards to Lost. Apparently Babylon 5's Mira Furlan will be appearing in an upcoming episode. I might have to check that out.

^ Lots of garlic sauce? The Apocalypse Bar n' Grill is pleased to offer a complimentary mint. ;)

I will take your complimentary mint. :D

That was a good kebab, good for the blood valves.

I might have some tappas now.

Now *that* would be interesting!!!

I wonder how they will do this? Will she be in one of those flashbacks the characters have???

Okay, it's a small spoiler, but I'll leave it up to you to decide whether you want to see what Mira Furlan is playing. This spoiler isn't anything more than you'd get from reading a TV Guide.

She plays a character named Danielle Rouseau, Spoiler:
and rumor has it she is the French woman heard on the repeated audio at the end of the second episode.

I have no idea if that'll be a flashback or not.

^ Oh wow! That is gonna be interesting! I could get behind that role for her! :)

Thanks for posting that!

Three days and no activity in here? Well, we gotta fix that. :)
Anyway, as some of you might have noticed, I've changed my av again. This time it's in the anticipation of The Chronicles of Riddick DVD which is coming out on tuesday. I've already posted a poll about it in SF&F, but I also wanted to ask this in here. Is anyone else getting the DVD? There are gonna be three versions available: Theatrical cut in widescreen and fullscreen, and an Unrated Director's Cut in widescreen (I'll be getting this one).

The other day I also got Swordfish on DVD. I found it at FutureShop for $9.99 CDN, which is like $8 american. Pretty good deal if you ask me. :)

Well, me and my g/f watched the fourth ep of Lost (tiny spoiler: Spoiler:
the one with the bore hunt
). We both thought it was great and Locke is definately becoming our favourite character.

Oh yeah, one other thing. Is anyone in here watching Boston Legal? That show is just absolutely hilarious. In case you don't know, it's a spin-off of The Practice and it stars James Spader (Daniel Jackson from the Stargate movie) and William Shattner. It's also got a ton of really good other characters (including a recurring role by Rene Auberjonois :D). So yeah, if you like quirky law shows, you should definately check it out, cos it is damn funny. :)

Bump :D

*must spend more time in DS9 forum*

Isn't it strange? It's my fav serie of ST and I hardly visit in here.

Anyway, back on topic, I just love Lost, the infamous wuzit2u kept bugging me to acquire it, and I have seen every epi, I can't wait for the Mira furlan appearance :D plus this one will be Spoiler:
Saied
centered :D.

I'm still diggin Lost. I almost thought we'd be without Sayid for a few eps (which would've been a shame), but I'm psyched to see what he finds on the island. I was about to write out a big spiel, but I forgot Big Foot is playing catch up. Between Sayid & Locke, those are my fav characters so far.

Looks like I'm all about ABC this season (wow, and I didn't watch anything on that channel but sports before :p). I'm into Boston Legal too. Maybe it's just cause of the wise-cracking antics of Spader's role or the overall antics of Shatner's role. But that show is a blast! I think it's really cool that Shatner plays a guy with a great reputation. Of course viewers can see him as this man with a legacy because he is Kirk. He doesn't play "Old Kirk" in this role, but as a man with a legacy, it fits. And it's funny how he uses it  Rene Auberjonois has just joined as a regular, which is about time! He's been in almost every ep anyway. He's good as a sane partner to balance Shatner's part, so I see him as being valuable.

Chronicles of Riddick - yep, I'll get it. Maybe not immediately, but I'd like to see what they included in the Director's Cut. Plus, I was one who was into Pitch Black since the theatrical release, so I was more than ready to see the further adventures of Riddick. I hope they get the chance to do the full trilogy.

Yeah, what's up with that?! :p
