Wedding in 7 Days -- Got Marriage Advice?

Always remember the things that it matters most to say to your spouse:

"Yes, dear. Of course, dear. You're right, dear."

:D

All kidding aside, I have two words for you: patience and love.
Lots and lots and lots of patience, and don't think you'll be the only one using it, she will be too.
And honestly, as long as you love each other, you'll find a way to work everything else out. It is true that where there's a will there's a way. :)

Talk about anything that bothers you, big or small, lest it fester and poison everything else.

Don't forget to appreciate things when they're going right, by saying so!

Don't ever be too prideful to apologise, an apology goes a long way.

Never have an important discussion when you're angry, give yourself a day, a week, or whatever it takes to cool off first. Beats saying things you regret and can never take back.

Affection, lots of hugs and kisses, those are just as important in maintaining a bond as words or gestures.

Someone once told me: Choose your love and then love your choice.

I think that sums up the "endurance" factor of a marriage pretty succinctly.

Today is the day! We get married in about eight hours. :)

I appreciate the advice and suggestions. I'll be "off of the grid" for several days, since we're leaving tomorrow for a one-week honeymoon trip to Walt Disney World, but I'll definitely re-read this thread upon our return. Thanks again!

Best wishes to both of you on your big day!
Congratulations, hope you have a wonderful day and a happy and successful marriage.

I hope your special day will be as special as you want it to be, have a great time on your honeymoon and best wishes for your married life. :)

Hey, my wife and I honeymooned in the same place. Enjoy!

If you want a little more advice, here's what my rabbi told me during my ceremony: Don't mess it up.
It boils down to that. Remember, this is a marriage, not a highschool fling. Take it seriously. Troubles will come up. Don't take the quitter's route and think divorce. Work through everything. Be honest. Be faithful.
When serious troubles come up, do everything you can that's reasonable to save the marriage. Always have the mindset that the marriage will last for the rest of your lives. Don't have a defeatest attitude. Think about her feelings, as well as your own.

Have a great roller coaster ride!

As a Catholic, I must say that this is why I love the Jews. I don't believe it could have been put any better than your rabbi did.

Succinct and to the point.

Perfect. :)

1. Don't.

If that doesn't work see if the wedding and the divorce come in a bundle in order to save money.

Congratulations! Well, how's it going?

Advice? Um... Well, I've been married for five years now and I'm still figuring it out. And now I'm a dad. Like an execution in the morning, it focuses the mind. ;)

Ah - that's my advice: You never have enough time, so act like it. Having the baby has finally convinced us that the only time to do things is "now". BTW, I don't know if you're planning on wee ones (I got married at 35) but if you are, there's a lot of stuff you have to do now. The honeymoon at Disneyland was a good start.

Again, congratulations, and all the happiness in the world. In a few weeks you'll see your first Star Trek movie as a married man. (Me too, actually. My first Star Wars movie as a married man was Revenge of the Sith. Bittersweet at best.)

Oh no, I just realized I'm too late.

Oh well, in the words of Commander Kruge in Star Trek III, "GET OUT!!! GET OUT OF THERE!!!"

I'm getting married in seven days! It'll be my first marriage as well as hers. I'm 33, and she's of similar age. Got any marriage advice? :)
Remember the words "yes" and "dear". They go over far better than a simple robotic "I obey".

Dude..just hang-up your balls and say goodbye to them. I dont care what any one else will say; but women rule marriages, men rule the world. And since you're probably not the head of state of any country, you're F-cked! Join the club!!!

Oh..and I do love my wife!
