Wedding Horror Stories

I was meant to go to a wedding today but we got a call from the father of the bride about half an hour ago. The groom called the wedding off about 4 hours before the wedding was due to start!

I've been to quite a few weddings but I've never known it to happen, all the ones I've been to have gone smoothly.

Does anyone have any stories of wedding dramas they'd care to share?

I knew a young bride (quite pregnant) who received the call from the groom while waiting at the church. He couldn't go through with it. Really have to look at it as a blessing in disguise.

I've been to a wedding where the best man talked about the groom's former exploits during his toast. He said that he was amazed that the groom ended up with this particular young lady after all those exploits...

I have a been to a wedding where the minister in his wedding sermon said, "Sex is a very precious gift from God and I'm sure we are all thinking of what their first night together will be like on their honeymoon.. " to a stunned church.

Horrible!

I've never known anyone stood up last minute but it's better to decide before, however late. That feeling of being stuck would just grow otherwise. I'm going to a wedding today actually, and hoping I won't have a story when I get back!

One of my customers a few weeks ago told me about his brother's wedding that he had just returned from. Apparently the minister got drunk beforehand and kept saying the wrong names.

at a cousins wedding, a bridesmaid had a spectacular explosion of diarrea just as they got to the rings. everyone burst out laughing.

Wow. So totally inappropriate.

I've been to many weddings, but all of them were wonderful. For once I'm happy I don't have an interesting story to tell.

Leaving your bride or groom to be at the altar is one of the worst things a person could do to another person. I mean really... you knew you didn't want to get married way before that day. No need to cause that unnecessary pain... horrible.

Time for a sexist generalization.

God, men are pigs. :wtf:

This not so recently divorced lady also concurs. :bolian:

I've had a wonderful new man in my life for 2 years. No way are we going to ruin our relationship by getting married. If you're not planning on having kids and you're past 40, why do it?

And why spend thousands on a wedding the first time around when you can spend the money on a Tahitian vacation instead? Isn't having sex in a cabana on a sun soaked beach preferable to worrying about where the in-laws are going to sit and co-ordinating the bridesmaids outfits?

I am not a fan of weddings. Ridiculous waste of money. Bizarre public ceremony. Not a fan of ceremonies personally so why would I want to spend thousands of dollars putting myself through one.

But.....a girl is a princess. A pretty princess. It's a day for her to shine and make her friends look like shit in orange chiffon gowns. You don't understand. Isn't that worth 15 to 20 grand?
