We Needed More Q In This Season

TRON JA307020

So far we've gotten very little of Q. There are just too many side things and characters going on that Q is lost in this show. It's really too bad. I really looked forward to Delancie getting some great scenes as Q. So far they have been sparse. Too bad.

Just watch de Lancie in anything else he's done for your fix. It works for me! Heck, he even encountered Data in The Twilight Zone...

John de Lancie said his character is a "catalyst" this season, ergo in the margins of things. He also said he filmed scenes for six episodes, which have been spread out into five so far.

He'll probably be in the final three, as some of what we've seen has, like I said, been sprinkled throughout most of the season e.g, the end of episode 1 was filmed along with the big chunk from the beginning of episode 2 and the blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance in episode 3 is probably an alternate take from episode 2. This leaves episode 2, 4 and 5.

And we know he's gonna be in next week's. Also, we can assume there's at least one more scene with Q and Jean-Luc... probably in the season finale.

I’ve been critical of this season but the “are you…you’re not well” thing was deeply fascinating and I was excited to see where that was going. A clever writer could probably make some cool narrative threads about vulnerability in the omnipotent, and connect that to the increased introspection we see in old-Picard.

Of course it’s gone nowhere because car chases and heists are more interesting.

Sad. Seems to me some fans could write better Star Trek than the actual writers. lol

Q's best in small doses.

We’ve certainly had small doses this season. This season is a story in which Q is a major player but we’ve seen less of him in these 7 episodes than in any ‘Q episode’ from the past. I’d argue the we need more him at this point and we’d still be in ‘small doses’ territory.

Still, he's been mentioned many times, regardless of whether we've seen him or not.

Given the Federation apparently hasn't seen any Q in 600 years (as of the 32nd century) I hope we see more of the Q in Discovery.

But in fairness there weren’t any starships with their own TV series during that 600 years ;)

When did The Burn happen again? 31st century? Had to be after the Temporal wars ended. Beginning of Picard, season 2 is the dawn of 25th century, so that leaves about 100ish years before the last officially logged encounter. So you could be right, unless I'm missing some sly reference.

Yeah the times they mentioned Q was great. So exciting. Lol. No I would rather have more DeLancie on the show

Oh my gosh another Qless episode. What the heck. I think we've seen Q for maybe 20 minutes total at this point. Dang it .

The show's title is Star Trek: Picard. Hence the focus on someone not named Q. It's pretty simple once you think it through.

If there's ever a Star Trek: Everything Q Wanted To Know About the Continuum But Were Afraid To Ask, then there had best be loads of him every episode.

That one line was one of those very intriguing parts of the first two episodes that made me really think this was going to be a very good season of tv (and definitely better than season one.) Then the next seven episodes gradually dragged it down to not that good and maybe only barely better than season one. Especially that half hour terrible poorly shot and lit action sequeance at the start of this week's.

I want to see Q going full on desperate as his powers short out until he can't even do anything and he finally accepts Jean-Luc's help and explains in a satisfying manner all his actions this season and Jean-Luc reveals the valuable things he's learned from Q and maybe that will make up for it!

(Also, Hi Uni! Remember me from the past?)

Uh so that means only Picard should be in the show? That doesn't make sense. Q was advertised to be the biggest guest star. Instead we have seen way more of the borg queen who's frankly not nearly as interesting. So I disagree we need more of Q much more. On many single eos of tng we got similar amounts of screen time or more. In single eps. Here we are at ep 9 and hardly no Q. So disappointing.
