We need a series set at least a century after Voyager

We've had some pretty good prequels, Enterprise was amazing, now they're doing Discovery... BUT, I'd love to know what happens after USS Voyager makes her way home! I'd like to see the technology for a comprehensive exploration of the whole galaxy, perhaps an adaption of the Borg transwarp. I want to see equal rights for sentient holograms, and more soong type androids (perhaps Lore had more luck than Data in producing viable offspring... and although Data is dead, is Lore still around himself). Have the Viidians cured the phage? Did the Ocampa survive long term after the caretaker died? Did Rinax (the Talaxian moon) ever recover from the Metrion Cascade? Did the Kazon become more Civillized? Did the Klingon Empire competely merge with the Federation? Did the Dominion become more peaceful under Odos leadership? Are the Vorta still subservient? Do the Romulans ever learn to trust us? What becomes of Cardassia? What changes did Grand Nagus Rom make to the Ferengi Alliance (beyond equality for women, which was a given)? What happened to Neelix after he joined that group of Talaxians on that planet (like, did he marry and have children and stuff like that, I'd like to think he did)?

I guess what I am saying is: I would like to see the social and political climate of the next century, the progress. prequels are nice, but we need more. Who agrees?

We're sort of getting that. In Discovery Season 3, they've shifted the time-frame to the 32nd Century.

And Star Trek: Picard is 20 years after Nemesis. I think 20 years later works better for the types of things you're describing than 100.

I think 100 years would be better because it gives more time for the development of the kind of technology development I'd like to see, and also the social development aspect too. There is nothing wrong with a completely new crew, a century later discovering something, looking into their ships data bank and referencing TNG, DS9 or VOY (or even TOS and ENT). 20 years is not much time, a century opens more doors.

The first two seasons are set 10 years before TOS. Then, at the very end of the second season, they jump 1,000 years into the future. I can't say anymore because of Spoiler Policy.

Technically, the season finale of Discovery only aired in April, so I shouldn't be mentioning the time-jump because we have to wait six months without using spoiler code, but the cat's already been out of the bag in this forum for a while.

Time is pretty much meaningless in Star Trek. The technology and stories will be exactly the same whether it’s the 23rd century or the 33rd. Only the names will change.

No, I never saw Tilly, her nervous talkativeness is kind of reminiscant of Ezri Dax when she first got the symbiont. I am confused though about one thing... why is there a woman called Michael? Is this her surname? I get that names may not be as dependant on gender in the future, but I guess there are more gender neutral names available? This confused me in the first couple of episodes. I'm not against it, just that... well I'd have been pissed off if my parents had given me a mans name.

If you continue watching it, you'll pretty much forget about it, as if her name were Michelle instead. Couldn't Data have been given a different name than one that's a synonym for "information"? But before long, it's more or less a non-issue.

I probably would have went "hell, yeah" for a show set in the 25th-Century back in 2008 or so, but I'm more excited now about the changes coming up in PIC that I think are more immediate and personal to the 24th-Century. Probably over the course of the series the question to what happened after TNG, DS9 and VOY will be answered.

The 25th-Century can wait, IMO.

The 25th century starts in the year 2401.

I have a feeling Discovery season 3 will do either post-Federation or dark-Federation, and thus be somewhat different from what's come before.

And I'm sure they'll drop hints as to what's happened to various 24th century Trek aliens in the interim.
