WB's Justice League 2017 movie pre-discussion thread

When the public think of Green Lantern they are reminded of that terrible Ryan Reynolds movie.

At this point, having GL in JL would hurt it more than help.

Yes, every part of that GL movie was an amateurish piece of crap. That misguided production is remembered, but it will not come to mind as an influence in this true DC movie series. In fact, the mere reference to the "Lanterns" in the JL teaser excited fans that this DCEU was truly expansive and unlike Marvel (with the X-Men and the Fantastic Four), has full access to its greatest creations

Besides, we all know the best version of GL was John Stewart from the JL and JLU cartoons, which will NEVER be topped.:D

That was a great GL, but at this point, we have no idea which Lantern would be featured. Hopefully, not Guy Gardner or Kyle Rayner.

I don't think the average moviegoer really remembers the GL movie at this point. That was six years ago, and now people think of Deadpool when they see Reynolds.

They remember it, but place it in a separate category, in the way the 2003 Hulk movie--bad as it was--is placed in a separate category from the MCU.

As it should be, as it is not part of the MCU at all.

Bring on Simon and Jessica!
I kind of like the idea of using Natu, with a little bit of hand-waving to say that there is no GL of Earth at the moment, so she was reassigned. Could set up some good stuff for later GL movies. But either way. :)

You actually think Amy Adams career peaked at Enchanted? She's been nominated for the Academy Award five times. Though probably for films you have no interest in. I think her resume is pretty solid and that's why she get's hired. She's definitely A list.

Not to mention she was the female lead in the first two DCEU movies. But, yeah, Enchanted must be the reason she gets seniority... :guffaw:

According to some promotional material:

Barry is a college student, studying criminal justice hoping to one day free his father.

Which means the plot of Flashpoint will be:

Barry traveling back in time to stop himself from taking on student loans. :D

I'm pulling for a Wendy & Marvin appearance.

Or they can just skip all four and give us Gleek & Wonder Dog.

I'll accept that only if Disney-owned Marvel and Star Wars force a Jar-Jar leading role in Infinity War, with plenty of "Weesa gonna get moy-moy crushed by Thanos? Weesa be new Iron Man!"

Less than a month to go!

They are really playing up those character logos. Gotta sell those t-shirts...

Speaking of which, has Cyborg ever really had a logo before? It's not like he wears a costume. Is that logo new to the movie, or has it been used before? At first, I thought it was just a stylized C, but that I think of it, its design sort of evokes Jack Kirby's characteristic line-and-circle circuitry patterns, which I guess makes sense for a version of Cyborg that's based on Mother Box technology.

The comics did have a colored circle the O going at least as far back as 2008, but none of the ones I saw on Comixology have it in the C.

I actually really like that poster (the non-modified versions, haha)

Very much like a comic cover.
I can't stand the typography of the tagline, though. I understand why they did it, but it just looks messy. Good concepts don't always translate to good executions.

She's a totally obscure two time Golden Globe winning, five time Oscar nominee... :p

And all that makes her worthy of top billing over Gal gadot? No one chose to watch Man of Steel or BvS because of Amy Adams (and not just because she was pretty much the worst actor in those movies, although Kevin Costner might be slightly worse). Justice League is basically being held up by the general love of the Wonder Woman movie at this point, and Gal Gadot was a big part of that. Winning awards doesn't make someone a good actor, as Amy Adams proves. She's got the range of, well, Kevin Costner or, if I'm feeling more accurate but a bit mean, William Hurt when he's really phoning it in (think of his role as a block of wood in Lost In Space as an example of what I mean). Its just an annoyance I had, and I'm sure it was her agent and not a ranking of most to least important actor that got Amy Adams over Gal Gadot in the billing. Its just pathetic and an insult to Gadot in my opinion to put her under Amy Adams, but in the end the movie will probably have bigger problems then screwed up billing order in the credits.

Not to mention Man of Steel already proved it false.

He had help from Lois, Jor-El, Emil Hamilton, the army... :p

"Help?" Heck, Superman was just one of the helpers. Jor-El was the one with the plan, and the others you mention did the main work of stopping the planet-killer. Superman was basically just the muscle carrying out the secondary part of Jor-El's plan. The film's called Man of Steel, but Jor-El is its real protagonist, even long after his death.

WTF??????????? I couldn't even finish the rest of the post after reading that.
